The suits were filed against McFadden-Bartell Corp. and Bartell Media publisher of Screenland, and Magazine Management which publishes Modern Movies. One story linked her romantically with actor Sidney Poitier, which she claims is false, while the other states that her daughter Emma had become ill as a result of Miss Andrew's friendship with movie director Blake Edwards.

In both cases she is asking $1 million in compensatory damages for impairment to her professional and personal reputation and $2 million for punitive damages on the basis that the defendants knew the stories to be false and libelous. Stanford Leases Astor Home for British Campus LONDON -Stanford University has rented Cliveden, the family home of the Astors, on a 21-year lease. The home will be used as the university's British campus. The home, in Buckinghamshire, is owned by the British National Trust, which acquired the estate in 1966 on the death of Viscount Astor. Cliveden became known as a gathering place for friends and associates of the late British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain.
