The first open-air concert of the season was given by Prof. E. A. Thompson's military band in Dewey Square last Friday evening, and was enjoyed by a large and appreciative audience.

There is but one reasonable criticism to make of the concert, and that is that the band, for some reason, did not occupy the band stand. Music is much more appreciated when the musicians can be seen. In this instance the band was closely surrounded by a ring of men and boys, which deprived the ladies, who are as a rule the more appreciative members of such an audience, of a view of the performers, and thereby decreasing their enjoyment of the occasion. The next time the band gives an open-air concert they should by all means arrange to occupy the band stand. Cut price on all millinery goods at Doerr'a Millinery store.
