8-9 NO MONEY DOWN, 2 YEARS TO PAY BANKAMERICARD- -TERMS FROCK FOR SCHOOL--Leah Saffian, 6, picks out dress to wear when summer ends, school begins. Summer Is Carefree Time for 6-Year-Old BY SUE REILLY Times Staff Writer ENCINO -Summer, as seen through the wide, brown eyes of a pretty 6-year-old, is a sun-washed panorama of carefree happiness. For Leah Saffian it has been a trip to Washington, D.C. where she took a flower to President Kennedy's grave and visited the Lincoln Memorial. Summer has been romping around in the sunshine with her dog Bobo, and swimming, at whim, in the new family pool.

It has been eating lots of spaghetti (a favorite food) and going ice skating and having serious talks with her mother, Mrs. Robert Saffian. It has been having dinner on the patio with her neighborhood friends, and asking daddy (Dr. Saffian) questions, and talking about growing up with teen-age babysitter, JoAnne Wirtz. Summer has been sleeping late some mornings, but not too many, because summer is too good to sleep away.

There has been time to read books and time to go to birthday parties. Summer for Leah has been a watercolor dream. But ask her what she likes best about summer and she'll answer: "The end because then you get to go back to school." HIGHLIGHT OF SUMMER--Leah enjoys lounging in bed and reading during her vacation leisure. SWIMMING FUN- Days of anytime dips in pool and brisk dry-offs near end for Leah.
