Amenl def. Mrs. Bud Spray wins Iowa City tourney Sers record 208 in meet IOWA CITY (AP)-Steve Spray set an 8-under-par record of 208 Sunday in winning his straight 'Central States golf tournament. Spray fired rounds of 66, 71 and 71 to top the 210 mark set by Marshalltown's John Liechty in 1961. Liechty won the tourney its first two years, and Spray has won the other two.

Liechty did not participate this year. Instead he won the Broadmoor Invitational tournament at Colorado Springs, Sunday. Runnerup in the Central States meet was Dave Bollman of Iowa City, four strokes back at 212 for the 54 holes. His 69 on the morning round was that set's best score. Third place went to John McGuiness of DCS Moines with a 219.

(AP)--Long-hitting John Liechty, Marshalltown, overpowered two- time champion Claude Wright of Denver 7 and 6 Sunday in the 36- hole finals of the Broadmoor Invitational Golf Tournament.

Hoerman wins Nashua feature NASHUA Jim Hoerman, Clarksville, won the main event in -the stock car races at the Big 4 Fair grounds here Saturday night. Stacy Redmond, Mason City, was second in the feature followed by Dean Schroeder, Clarion. Nearly 1,200 people attended the seven-event card. Two more games postponed in S-M baseball league Two Saturday night games in Southern Minnesota League were rained out, Mason City at Owatonna a Albert Lea at Mankato. The Albert Lea-Mankato game will be played Tuesday night.

No new date has been set for the Mason City- Owatonna contest. A full slate of games is listed for Wednesday night with Mankato to play at Mason City, Owatonna at Bloomington and Austin at Alfa Lea. The season is to close Aug. 7 but this now appears doubtful because Mankato must make up three postponed contests. MIDWEST LEAGUE BASEBALL STANDINGS Jamaican takes Iowa tennis open CEDAR PvAPIDS (AP)-Lance lott Lumbden, 23, a visitor from Jamaica, won the men's singles title in the Iowa Open tennis tour nament Sunday.

Lumsden was visiting with his tennis teammates from Southern Illinois University, Roy and Bob Sprengelmeyer from Dubuque after a knee injured in last week's national clay court meet kept him from going east to play. Bob in Sunday's singles semifinals, 7-5, 2-6, 6:3, while Bill Bail of Waterloo dumped brother Roy, 8-10, 6-3, 6-4. Lumsden then defeated the top-seeded Ball, 6-4, 6-4. It was still a family affair in the men's doubles as Lumsden and Bob Sprengelmeyer defeated Roy and veteran Len Prosser ofj Leawood, 6-3, 6-3. It was the first time since 1946 that Prosser has lost in open doubles competition.

The Jamaican took a defeat From Prosser in mixed doubles. Prosser and partner Lucille Davidson of Lee's Summit, knocked off Lumsden and Jean Harrison, also of Lee's Summit, 12-7. Mrs. Davidson took women's singles title over Charlene Mixdorf of Waterloo, 6-1, 6-0.
