EARLY DAY FOOTBALL Players may have been just as many, but there weren't as many statisticians on the football field back in 1913. A major research job was required to name these players. And still the record of teams played and scores totaled is a bit legendary. Mason City also had some unsung heroes of football STAR TREE TOPS Football in 1913 was a game to be played but not publicized. At least that's what appears from what are left in the way of records of that early day.

James A. Lucas, an attorney Austin to appear at School at Bedford, submitted a picture of the Mason City High School football team of 1913. Apparently a photographer had made a picture, but where was the scribe to relate their deeds or even their names? It was a major research job to identify this team. Maybe some old timers will remember them HERE GOES for identification: Left to right in the back- TVT-V Hi- TM. t- field are Harold (Red) Luiibeck, LYLE, Minn.
