Riot in the First Waao. Yesterday being St Patrick's Day, exhibited a scene of considerable disturbance in the First Ward, in consequence ol a number of stuffed images being suspended in different parts of the city and, a was to be expected, many of the Irish residents among us were highly indignant at what they conceived an insult! A mob collected brick bits, were thrown several people were wounded the military were called out, and fired at the mob, which wounded two young Irishmen and one young woman, which dispersed the mob, and about nine o'clock in the evening the city was quiet. Cour. of Saturday. Steamboat Kino'tok. This new steamboat, designed to run between Providence, NarraganscttTier, is rapidly progressing towards her completion. She is a vessel of first rate model, both for speed and ease, and has a powerful engne for a vessel of her dimensions.

S.io has three spacious cabins of sufficient dimensions to accommodate a large number of passengers; and should it ever be. como requisite, capable of receiving nearly one hundred berths. It is expected she will bo ready to commence her tnpj towards the latter part of April the enterprise and energy of thoao who have tho management, are a sufficient guaranty that all will be done that should be done, and that in the shortest possible time. Steamboat Boston. This boat has been sold for $33,000 to some gentlemen in Wilmington, N.

C. The Boston, though comparatively slow, in these days ol railroad speed, probably as good a boat as any other boat. Some consider tho price low, but ahe has made large dividends, and though sold at one half her original cost, has probably pad her owners a very handsome profit. Cox and her beautiful daughter, on the complaint of the notorious Mrs. MacManus, who was in turn charged with an illicit intercourse wilh Mr. Cox, the husband ot the accused. Un Saturday morning Cox, the husband, wn himself arrested hy officer Brink, on a bench warrant. It appears that Cox had succeeded in ok tuining great sums of money from a Mr.

Lawrence, No. 332 Grand street, by representing himself as the owner of 3000 acres of valuable land at Burlington, Vermont, and leaving the deed as socu ritj. It was, however, discovered that the deed was a base forgery, and that the accused had no land whatever. Ho was consequently arrested for having obtained money under false pretences, fie was liberated on giving bail to answer the charge, in tho sum of $3,000. 7'imr.

Sr: Having had very ample opportunities of testing the very giex suteriortty of your Many Chambered'' gun, it affords me greii pleasure to state, fur the public information, that I consider far superior to any other now in use.

Its peculiar adaptation to lie purposes of war, gives it just and strong claims to tna pa trotuga of the General Government. I da not hesitate to declare it limy firm and decided opinion, that one hundred men, armed wtthyour gun, would be equal, in point or efficacy, in battle, to one tiousind armed with any other. Its superiority for hunting pu'pwe is equally great, and cannot fail to secure for it the public lavor. The astonishing capability of your gun to resist damphess, or inj'ry of its cnarge, when loaded, I consider of the greatest importance. A very striking and satisfactory instance of this manifesto! itself in the late battle with the Semtnoles, on Lake Mon rje.

Your gun had at the time been loaded at least two weeks had leen taken out on sue or more excursions, and exposed to the dimnness of tho which in that country is very great, and such othor causes as had made it necessary to discharge and ri all ar most of the o'her arms similarly exposed, yet, Under these circumstances, without re loading, yours went on in "very instance, (the whole round of chambers,) as if recently charged. The simplicity of the machinery, and the great power with vhrch it throws its balls, will justly enhance its estimation with ill who will take the trouble to examine and make trial of tin m. In will repeat, that I have no hesitation in giving it as my firm conviction that vour's is by far the most efficient fire arm ever offered to the public, and every way worthy of con fidence and patronage. I am, Sir, very respectfully, Your most ob't humble serv't, W. GORDON, Captain U.
