WEATHER FRONTS WARM CO10 MBaBBUHH OCCWDED STATIONARY JOHNSON Continued from First Page ought to be not just any job for everybody, but a job that uses all every man and woman has to offer. "Let's start thinking about full potential as we have thought about full employment "Let'3 faca it squarely that a serious default of social policy and social justice is the inadequacy of the attention we give to the potential of our older people. "We haven't started to think honestly about how to give meaning to that part of life which lies beyond the age of 60 or 65 or 70.

"Let's work to build a whole new ideal of what ought to be the meaning of growing old. Our concept today is still cushioned by the problems of the '30s. In the same vein, the President urged Americans to abandon the idea that education is only for the young. He also urged hem to make better use of their leisure time. The President, who said he spoke to the UAW as an "optimist," recalled that this week marks the 12th anniversary of the Supreme Court's 1954 school desegregation order.

Since that historic day, he said, the people have begun to realize that what is written in the law must also be "written in the daily chapter of their lives." role in Vietnam. The unionists threw punches at the demonstrators and ripped up their signs. The protesters were from the UCLA Vietnam Day Committee, according to Frederick Hoffman, who said he is a UCLA graduate student. Attention of the estimated 4,000 delegates and guests in the Long Beach Municipal Auditorium was riveted on the balcony throughout Mr. Johnson's talk as the handful of delegates shouted, spat and screamed at the peace demonstrators who were carrying large signs denouncing "LBJ's war." When his address was completed, the President was given a roaring ovation, in line with the repeated praise heaped on Mr.

Johnson by the UAW and its president, Walter Reuther. Many labor leaders, including AFL-CIO president George Meany, have been critical of some of Mr. Johnson's activities, especially in what they feel was the President's failure to press hard enough for such legislation as repeal of "right-to-iwork" laws and substantial increases in minimum wages. Meany has said the labor movement should follow an independent course, not tying itself to either political party. Reuther said he is going to work "within the framework of the Democratic Party in the tradition of Franklin Roosevelt and John F.

Kennedy." Reuther remarked afterwards: "This union will defend their right to disagree with our point of view, but these people need to understand that free speech does not mean you have a right to disrupt other people's meetings." The delegates buret into shouts of "Throw them out," but Reuther quieted the audience and said, "I ask that no one go near them or bother them. Just let them sit there." New Trials Asked When the panel was dismissed, attorneys Albert Meloling for Hunt and Kenneth Biely for Smith moved for new trials citing, among other grounds, the alleged attempts at influence. Judge Westwick set May 31 for arguments, meanwhile ordering Smith and Hunt held in the County Jail. Sheriff Webster said the notebooks had been left in the jury box, and that the courtroom was supposed to be locked.
