Flaherty is one of five new directors elected to the board. Others are Don B. Curran, George Nicho-law, Lydia R. Reeve and Stanley Robertson. Leider becomes the 29th president of the society which was founded in 1947 as the' Hollywood Advertising Club.

The name was changed in 1966 to reflect the organization's major interest in the broadcast media. Among other activities, the group sponsors the International Broadcasting Awards which annually honors the "world's best" radio and television commercials. Movie Based on Clemente Slated Screen Gems, which produced the acclaimed "Erian's Song" based on the life of football star Brian Piccolo, will create a 90-minute movie for television based on the life of the late Pittsburgh Pirate outfielder Roberto 1 e-mente for NBC. Clemente was killed in a plane crash Dec, 31, 1972, near San Juan, Puerto Rico, attempting to fly relief supplies to earthquake victims in Managua, Nicaragua. Leider, president of Warner Bros. Television, is the new president of the Hollywood Radio and Television Society. He was elected to succeed John J. Mc-Mahon, vice president, programs, West Coast, NBC-TV, as head of the organization of executives of oadcasting, broadcast, advertising and program and commercial production. Other new" officers are Paul D.

King, vice pres Streets of San Francisco, Bold Ones and Bridget Loves Bernie to round out the top 10. Placing 11-20 were Col-umbo, Kung Fu, CBS movie "The 500 Pound Jerk," ABC movie "Red Tomahawk," Hawaii Five-0, Marcus Welby. The Rookies, MASH, Doris Day and Odd Couple. Overall averages for the networks were CBS with 14.3 rating and 28.9 share. ABC 14.0 and 28.5, NBC 13.3 and 27.1.

Love Thy Neighbor, one of ABC's summer replacement shows, scored strongly in fourth place in its debut week, according to the 70-market Nielsen ratings for the week ending June 17. The Xo. 1 series of the week was CBS' Bob New-hart. All in the Family was second, followed in order by Mary Tyler Moore, Love Thy Neighbor, Mission Impossible, Room 222, Medical Center, V- SINGER Helen Reddy stars in summer music-variety series debuting at 8 tonight over (4).
