PLANlNGGROUP GATHERS DATA Co-Ordination of P r e s e n t Systems Is Sought by Iowa Board. AMES, May 7.--With an eye to the year 2000, the Iowa State planning" board, appointed by Gov. Clyde L. Herring; is taking opening steps to gather all available material about Iowa's land, industries, and people, P. H. Elwood, head of the landscape architecture department at Iowa State college and director and consultant of the board, said. The board's present task Is to coordinate the various plans already made in Iowa, so that the board, made up oi representatives of a number of "planning groups," may adopt a unified program for immediate action. This program will be the first step in putting into effect a long time development plan for Iowa. An immense amount of planning, giving the board a broad foundation upon which to build, has already been accomplished in the state. "The Book of Iowa," a state industrial survey "The Iowa Conservation Plan,"' published trough the combined efforts of the board of conservation and the fish and game commission, "A Survey of Administration in Iowa" by the Erookings Institution, and many bulletins, reports and maps cover a wide variety of subjects dealing directly with basic planning.
