NEW YORK, (.-?--Mrs. Lillian Mae Bartholomew, seeking to regain her 10 year old actor son, Freddie, expressed Thursday a hope that the claims pi mother love will win her his custody. "I am anxious to see Freddie and take him into my arms again," she said. "No one can love a child like his mother." Mrs. Bartholomew, who arrived Wednesday from England, said she would ask the courts of California to rescind the guardianship of Freddie given to his aunt. Miss Millicent Bartholomew. Appeal to First Lady. If the courts refuse, the mother said she would appeal to Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt. "I'm sure the president's wife will understand me because she is a mother, too," she said. In Hollywood, Felix Cunningham, attorney for the aunt, gave little encouragement for the mother's hopes. "Most assuredly, Miss Bartholomew will resist by every legal effort any effort to take Freddie away from her," he said. $1,250 Weekly Salary. Freddie earns a reputed salary of 51,250 a week, but Mrs. Bartholomew said she had to borrow money for third class passage. Her husband, a wounded war veteran, holds a minor government job and receives a $90 a month pension, she said. Although they believe they deserve at least "a small share of his income." their love is their main motive in wanting him back, she said. Mrs. Bartholomew, who is 35, said neither she nor her husband wants to interfere with Freddie's film career. Given his movie start through his aunt's assistance, Freddie, played the title role in the motion picture "David Copperfield." JACK- SPRAT MILK, our price, per can ...
