"l", MASON CITY GLOBE-GAZETTE, APRIL 8 1936 FIFTEEN ECONOMY RECORD OF GRAHAM CARS SCORES TRIUMPH Distributed in Mason City Through Folsorh Auto Company. The repeated economy victories that have been scored by Graham cars make them an important section of the local auto show which opens Thursday and continues through Saturday. Graham automobiles are distributed in Mason City by the Folsom Auto company at 722 South Federal avenue. According to Jay Folsom. bead of the firm, Graham cars are making strides in salea in this area. The models on display in the Folsom Auto company showrooms are the Graham Crusader in the low price field and the Cavalier, the campaign car, to a Supercharger model, which is also displayed on the showroom floor. Reaching Neiv Peaks. F. R. Valpey, vice president and general sales manager of the Graham-Paige Motors corporation, has said: "Evidence that spring buying will reach new peaks both for ourselves and the industry is unmistakably indicated by the enthusiastic sales reports reaching us from distributors and dealers all over the country." "One of the most salient reasons for the great wave of public approval for the new Graham, can be found in the repeated economy victories that have been scored by Graham cars," Mr. Valpey declared. "The first economy test in which "Cannouball" Baker drove from Chicago to New York in a Graham Supercharger averaging 26.S miles a gallon was quickly followed by a 1936 Ford V-8 Touring Car at Show New York to Miami economy record of 28.74 miles a gallon and then by the Boston to Los Angeles midwinter economy record of 27.3 miles a gallon made with the Graham Crusader. Is Convincing Demonstration. The culminating victory for Graham economy, however, occurred when the Graham Supercharger won the sweepstakes championship over 29 other cars in the Gilmore-Yosemite economy classic last January with the gasoline consumption record of 26.66 miles a gallon. Since this convincing demonstration of Graham economy, sales have upped sharply throughout the country." "The purpose of these tours is two-fold and are being conducted not only in the interest of economical automobile transportation, but also on behalf of the nationwide traffic safety drive now being made throughout the country. Baker is carrying with him a large scroll bearing signatures of governors, mayors, police chiefs, and other officials indorsing this nationwide traffic safety drive."
