FOURTEEN MASON CITY GLOBE-GAZETTE, APRIL 8 193G DODGE AUTO IS NOTED FOR ITS MANY FEATURES Powerful Car Sold By Lapiner's Replete With Comfort. In the Dodge passenger car section, the automobile show visitor finds an array o£ seven decidedlj attractive models, and the latest engineering innovations and rnechan- . ical changes that have been incorporated in the 1936 chassis. The Dodge is to be, exhibited at tie Lapiner Motor company, 125 Delaware avenue southeast. Notable among the many advances that distinguish the new Dodge cars are an improved spring suspension which contributes new elements of easy-riding, a novel staering layout relieving the steering mechanism of road and wheel disturbances, a ride Icvelator synchronizing the action of the springs. a further strengthened bridge-type X frame, a body construction that ; makes Dodge safety steel bodies structures of marvelous strength and security, automatic control features that exempt the driver from many manual operations, a fingertip speed changing .mechanism, self- equalizing hydraulic brakes, and many other details through which driving and riding ease, safety and economy are promoted. Hydraulic "brakes, pioneered by/ Dodge, are direct-acting, -without rear shoes of each brake are en- intervening servo-action. Front and gaged by hydraulic pistons of different sire, with tie result tiat tie rearward shoes exert the same retarding force as the forward shoes. In addition to the 4-wheel hydraulic brakes, a parking brake, of the propeller sbaft type, is provided. For instance, an automatic choke attends to whatever carburetor "choking" is necessary- The task of advancing or retarding- the ignition spark in accordance with varying operating conditions, is given to an automatic vacuum spark control attached to the ignition distributor. Engine cooling is regulated '"by a thermostatic control which automatically retards or accelerates water circulation as conditions demand it. An automatic carburetor heat control maintains the fuel at uniform volatility, regardless of outside temperature. Aid to Night Driving. Night driving security is advanced by a new Dodge safety lig-hting system. For road illumination, this method supplies a main beam for ipen-rcad travel, and an optional jourtesy or "passing beam." Both beams are of equal intensity -- 32 candle-power. But while the main r country driving beam points straight ahead, the passing beam is irected toward the ground and also hunted to tie rigit where it clear- shows the shoulder or extreme edge of the road. JJlumiijating the road for a. considerable distance, the light of the assing beam is of sucli quality and irection as to enable the Dodge driver and the driver of the oncoming car to pass each other without a discomfort, .and in safety. Because the system, through the use of masked bulbs, cuts off otherwise scattered ra3 p s and the image of the concentrated beam, the light is of marked advantage in ' night driving through fog. dust or rain; it also is more comfortable on strument panel layout, one of them removable, for the insertion of radio controls. All closed bodies are wired for radio. NEW HUDSON OAR STYLE Lhe e3'es of the approaching motor's! or pedestrian. Within its new, jeratare-insulated bodies.
