POSTOFFICE TO BURN IOWA COAL Arrangements Made With Department for Type of Heating System. WASHINGTON, Feb. in.--The new Mason City postoffice will be heated by coal produced in Iowa, Congressman Gilbert N. Haugen announced here today a f t e r conferences-with treasury officials in regard to the type of heaUng systems to be installed in the public buildings proposed for Mason City and Oelwein. Mr. Haugen said the Iowa Coal institute, of which B. A. McDonald Mason City, is one,of the directors! had communicated with the treasury department, urging Hie supervising architect to arrange for the installation of heating systems in the building 1 which would use the home-produced bituminous coal in Iowa. As a result of the recommemla- tons of Haugen and the Iowa Coal institute, Supervising Architect Wetmore announced that any changes necessary for the use of bituminous coal would be made in both buildings. Wetmore also said the use of Iowa coal would be encouraged by both the treasury an/ postoffice departments. In making his recommendations, Haugen pointed out to treasury officials that the Iowa Coal institute was a non-profit organization, conducted with the one idea of stimulating use of Iowa fuels.
