Olson in an interview with his pastor, the Rev. Kenneth Torvik of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, said he felt he was living in a remarkable age of machinery, transportation, television, to say nothing of the tele phone and radio. Olson was born in Lee County^ Illinois, Feb. 19, 1864, to Ole Olson and Carrie Espe. His father died when he was 6 after which his mother and three boys moved to a farm near Thor in 1872. He remembers that there were sod shanties caves or the deluxe ones, log shanties. He lived in one of the first frame houses. A son of Stewart Glaus, still operates a store there Olson's wife, Julie, died Jan. 30 1950. There are eight living chil dren. They are Theodore of Eagle Grove; Otto. Thor; Mrs. Torvald Larson, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Alice Hanson, Garner; Melvin, Eagle Grove; Clarence, Gerhard and Lawrence all of Thor. He moved to Eagle Grove in October, 1947, and is now a membtir of the Eagle G r o v e Evangelical Lutheran Church. Olson received ^ greetings from California, Canada,. Oregon, Illinois; ;nid many from Iowa on his birthday. Pastor and Mrs. Torvik and his children were among his many friends who helped celebrate his birthday during the afternoon and evening. , The nicknames Bobby or Peeler for police officers derive from Sir Robert Peel who first organized London's Scotland Yard in 1829.
