Jacobson Talks to Lake Lions CLEAR LAKE--Philip H. Jacobson, Mason City, secretary of Ihc Iowa Retail Hardware Association, spoke on "Is II A Sin for the Other Fellow to Make a Profit?" for the Lions Club program Wednesday noon at the Al! Veterans Social Center. Erwiu Zuelilkc was program chairman. Charles EIIKC!, Milwaukee, was a guest o[ Earl Ncsbitt. A. D, Mocller, general c h a i r m a n oC a minstrel show which will be given the latter part of March, appointed Bob Stuart publicity chairman. Sorority Chapters Plan Joint Meeting CLEAR LAKE -- Mrs. Ray McGowan spoke on "How Is Your Conversation?" for the program of Beta Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi at the home of Mrs. Howard Ferris. Mrs. A. C. Budoiphson discussed "You and Y o vi r Audience." A joint event with Xi Mu Chapter is planned at the home of Mrs. Arlcigh Eddy March 8 when a conccr film will be shown. Miss Josephine Gelow gave instructions in bridge to Xi Mu Chapter members at the home of Airs. W a r r e n Jacobson. T h e chapter voted to give $15 to a needy family and $5 to the Red Cross. PLAN B E N E F I T CLEAR LAKE--Plans to bold a benefit coffee at City Hall March 8 while the school election is in progress were made by members of N e o t c r a Club who met at the h o m e of Mrs. Keith Raw. Robert Halford has arrived from Korea where he served 10 months with the 430th Engineers. Lt. Halford, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Halford, Clear Lake, entered the service in August 1951 after having been graduated from a general engineering course at Iowa State College, Ames, in Juno. Lt. Halford landed at San Francisco, 1 went to Camp Carson, Colo., for his discharge and then visited his brother, Richard, in Santa Fe, N.M., a few days before coming home. Plan Examinations for Clerk-Carrier CLEAR LAKE -- Postmaslci Mary Doris Carroll reported Tuesday that examinations for a sub stitute clerk-carrier for the local postoffice have been announced by the U.S. Civil Service Commission. The starling pay rate is $1.61'/-s an hour. Applicants must pass a written test and live in the delivery area or be a bona fide patron of the postoffice named.
