WV- Hans Pfund, Iowa director of national re-employment service issued a statewide appeal to private employers to provide jobs. His appeal followed the first step in the CWA retrenchment program last night when 7,500 Iowa civil works em- ployes were ordered off the payroll. "On Washington's birthday anniversary many turn their thoughts to patriotism," Mr. Pfund said, "they could give no greater service to their community than to give employment where possible. "An honor roll of employes mieht well be established," he said. Records show that nearly 100 000 lowans are registered as unemployed at the county re-employment offices. An additional 70,000 CWA employes will be laid off at the rate of 10 per cent a week. Two thousand persons were given jobs through the Iowa re-employment offices m January, according to the records. County offices can provide qualified workers for every type of labor, Mr. Pfund said Corn-Hog Meetings in Worth County Planned NORTHWOOD, Feb. 23.--R.
