DECEMBER 7 M 1933 KRASGHELW1LL STUDY HOG MART Scans Direct Buying System Practiced by Chicago Packers.. CHICAGO, Dec. 7. U?--Lieut. Gov. Nelson Krnschel of Iowa arrived in Chicago yesterday to make a study of the dip- ' buying system for bogs aa practiced by Chicago packers. Farm leaders throughout the middlewest have for years inveighed against direct buying, Kraschel explained, and a bill is now before the Iowa legislature to provide state supervision of hog buying with a view to eliminating direct purchases. Direct buying means buying of hogs on the farm by packers' representatives. The hog's are then shipped direct to the packers and do not go through the ordinary routine of market influences and the competition among buyers. MASON CITY GLOBE-GAZETTE By LISBBTH This red romaine dinner gown is for formal-informal wear. The interesting details are the flared gores that break the Une of the slim skirt, and the triple-tiered front cupdet daintily set off with a white satin turn-back collar with cord and tassel tie. The only other trimming feature is the jeweled buckle fastening the self-material belt. I. S. T. C. Enrollment Gams; Proportion of Boys Shows Increase CEDAR FALLS, Dec. 7.--Increased enrollment for the winter term at the Iowa State Teachers college established a new record when for the first time in years the registration for the second term exceeded that of the opening quarter. Figures at the secretary's office show that the enrollment up to noon Dec. 5 was 1,425, an increase of 36 over the enrollment of the first day of the fall term. The old rule of five or more girls to one boy which has for years applied to the co-educational institution has also been shattered. First figures for the winter term show that there is a percentage of a little less than two girls to one boy. At the end of the first day 945 women and 480 men students were enrolled. The banner year for the overruling by the feminine sex was realized in the summer of 1918 when there were 14 girls to every boy. Three years later than this, also in the summer term, there was a percentage of seven to one. Johnston Again Heads New Hampton Chamber NEW HAMPTON, Dec. T.--S. E.
