Clearing Monday, COASTAL WEATHER Cape Blanco to Point Conception: Gale Santa Cruz southward for south winds to 45 knots shifting to southwest to 30 knots early today. Small craft arnings north of Santa Cruz for gusty shifting winds today. West to northwest winds 15 to 30 knots late today and Monday. Mostly fair through Monday. Point Conception te Mexican Border: outhern winds 15 to near 25 knots at Times today, shifting to west and northwest this afternoon and night.

West to northwest winds 10 to 22 knots Monday. Cloudy with light rain spreading south over area today. Clearing tonight and Monday but few showers south portion until Monday morning. Slightly cooler 10- day. WESTERN WEATHER SUMMARY low of 993 millibars centered about 75.

mites west of Brookings, Oregon, weakenand moving east. A weather front exinded from the low to just east of Stockthen southwest into the Pacific south Monterey and continued southwest about 1,000 miles. The front was expected to move east to the Los Angeles area today and was expected to reach the San Diego area by tale this afternoon. Gusty winds rain should spread south along the coast about 200 miles ahead of the front and showers were expected to continue for several hours after the front. Since -storm is weakening, rainfall should be ight in Southern California.

NATIONAL WEATHER SUMMARY Heavy rains continued to fall on central portions of California late Saturday with heaviest fall taking place along a stafront stretching across the San Francisco Bay area northeastward through Sacramento to Blue Canyon, located near the Nevada border. San Francisco was with an additional in. of rainfall during the day. Associated light rain spread onto the coast of Oregon and into Northern Nevada, Idaho and SouthwestMontana. Elsewhere, prominent activity occurred in the form of thundershowers, scattered along the Gulf Coast and from Virginia Highlands southwestward through Kentucky and Tennesinto Arkansas and Central Texas.

Temperatures rose to mild 70 and 80-deg. leveis for the most part nationwide. Warm 90s appeared over the arid lands of the Far Southwest and along the immediate Gulf areas up Into Texas and Oklahoma. On the cool side, northeast and northwest corners of the country registered in the 50s or 60s. Widespread frost is expected at inland sections of the North Atlantic States as the mercury takes a downward dip to freezing under clear skies.

is hoping youngsters will prefer treats over tricks this Halloween. Booths are being put up at various playgrounds, the costume division is appropriate costumes for plays and arrangements have been made by the City Fire Department to select sites for huge bonfires.
