Fred and Beatrice Troller, "typical young couple" from Zurich, Switzerland come to America to find the origin of the jazz music they have heard and found so exciting in Europe. First stop for them in this delicate and beautiful Creole City is the Second Free Mission Baptist Church, where the choir and then the entire congregation sing out in their full and rich voices, "Down by the River-. side (Am Gonna Study No More).

They'll honeymoon in Palm Springs and be in Hollywood within two weeks. Bobby telephoned she's a cute little bundle weighing 90 pounds with a figure to match. York production in its present shape. With a couple of big names and some provoca tive sketches added, there would be possibilities.

TV might be a better medium for this "Scandals," which has beautiful costumes designed by Charles LeMaire, songs by Irving Caesar and choreog raphy by Dorothy Keller. "Scandals of 1957" will be followed at the Las Vegas Riviera by Harry Belafonte. Negotiations are also under way to bring in a shortened version of "Pajama Game." JOHN L. SCOTT. Four comedians keep the fball rolling with a variety of sketcnes some new, some of familiar vintage.

The comics are Joey Faye, Sam my Smith, Don Blackey and Bill Holbrook. Beautiful Girls The Darcy Twins, Sally Crane and Nelson and Dee are other principals. There are 20 beautiful showgirls backing up the featured per formers. The show as written, di rected and produced by George White would seem to have slight chance for New Hit Thespian Robards Destined for Films; New Religious Project On BY EDWIN SCHALLERT That briskly operating organization, Hecht-Hill-Lan-caster, now actively on the prowl for new talent, will very likely capture Jason Robards Jr. for their contract list.

This will be a top victory if they can bring it about for the reason that Robards is such a tremendous hit with Fredric March and Florence Eldridge in "Long Day's Journey (Into the Night," by Eugene O'Neill. Robards is a second-generation actor, since his father was exceedingly well known, especially in the days when he appeared with Helen Menken in "Seventh Heaven" on the stage. It is worth a note that Marion Kerby, who died here just a week or so ago, was a member of the same John Golden company. Robards should carry enormous impact in pictures in vigorous dramatic parts. The company will have to look well ahead probably for any picture suitable to the actor, if he is pacted, so it might be something like "White Hunter, Black Heart," which is on the late 1057 schedule.

Robards will likely be with the O'Neill play quite a while. Bernard L. Schubert, who has been producing the Crossroads television series, has accumulated excess material which may enable him to make a sequence of feature pictures. So already he is planning the first called "Paratroop Padre," based on the story of a Jesuit priest who jumped with U.S. paratroopers during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.

Schubert is planning two other features for comparatively early production. PALANCE, DORS, COBB MAY FORM TRIO Lee J. Tony Curtis and Blake Edwards have apparently had such a good response for their efforts in the picture "Mr. Cory" at U-I, that thev are contemnlat- in charge. The production they have in work is called "The James Dean Story" and will be told through photographs and film footage that will be put together under the supervision of Louis Clyde Stou-men, who has been busy creating those remarkable novelties, "The Naked Eye" and "The True Story of the Civil War." This production opened last Wednesday night at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas.

Like most other shows of the type, this one ran too long in its opening performance, and the squeeze-play technique was immediately put into effect with beneficial results for succeeding The new "Scandals" features newcomers at least new to the West some of whom show definite possibilities for stardom. Opinions probably will differ, but my top candidate is Will Able, a limber-legged dancer who gives a perfect imitation of Ray Bolger. When someone provides Able with a distinc tive routine of his own, he should go places in a hurry.
