iipwepwj 7 Boys Begin Vacation by Park Fishing It was the first Saturday after "school's out" and almost a hundred little boys armed with fishing poles were out to prove it in traditional Tom Sawyer-Huckleberry Finn style in Lincoln Park yesterday. The lake there, 'along with those in most Los Angeles parks, has been stocked with small fish, expressly for the delight of small boys. And they were making the most of it. Equipment ranged from fancy rigs with reels and chromium gadgets to the time-worn bent pins and mop handles. Bait was pretty generalized too from wriggling pink angleworms to crumbs left over from cookie-jar raids.

The catches? Well it was a lot of fun going out there, anyway. Tractors Help Farms Catch Up WASHINGTON, June 17 (fP) The late spring this year might have caused more farm troubles except for the tractor, says the U.S. Department of Agriculture. U.S. farms have increased their use of tractors immensely in the last few years.

When planting is delayed a farmer can catch up by running his tractor night and day or for long hours that would not be possible with animals, the department says. The net result this year is that much more of the U.S. crop will be planted properly than would have been possible when the number of tractors was smaller. BARCLAY, Auctioneer That well-known address "Eastern-Columbia, Broadway at Ninth" will soon mean "Eastern-Columbia, Broadway to Hill on Ninth." Julian M. Sieroty, president of Eastern-Columbia I announced yesterday an important expansion by this big downtown department store. Property on the corner of 9th and Hill Sts.

which was acquired by the store in 1944 is now to be used to greatly increase the store's street-floor selling space, according to Sieroty. Work Stars in July He pointed out that construction will start on or about July 1, and will result in Eastern-Columbia having an uninterrupted line of show windows on 9th St. along the entire block between Broadway and Hill and continuing north on both Broadway and Hill to the large parking lot in the center of the block. This means the addition of nine large and four small show windows, as well as two large entrances, one on 9th St. and one on Hill.

It is further explained that this expansion will increase Eastern-Columbia's store-front from its present 322 feet to 513 feet. The scope of this plan indicates the confidence this store's management has in the future of downtown Los Angeles a Churches Select-Toronto Delegates NEW YORK, June' 17 (JP) Thirty-two North American churchmen will join delegates from throughout the world for a meeting of the Central Committee of the World Council of Churches in Toronto July 8-15, it was announced today. Statehood Opposed WASHINGTON, June 17 (JP) The National Congress of American Indians today opposed pending Alaskan statehood legislation unless "full protection for Alaskan native land and property rights" is provided. NOTED PIIYSICIAN TELLS SECRET DR.

J. H. KELLOGG, M.D., says: "Emphasis should be laid upon the fact that an X-Ray apparatus alone is not sufficient to secure useful information. A well-trained X-ray expert as well as an up-to-date apparatus must be on the job. "The X-ray only makes shadows.

The expert must interpret the shadows. Long years of training and education of the eye to observe fine distinctions of light and shade, and deep study of physiology and pathology as well as of the physics and the technic of the X-ray are essential to success. Only such an expert can be trusted. "A tyro misinterprets what he sees. The minute indications of disease he overlooks, and unusual but perfectly normal appearances he mistakes for cancer or some other dreadful condition for which he urges immediate operation.

"Unfortunately, the country is full of X-ray tyros, thanks to the commercial activity of X-ray machine manufacturers. It is safe to say that at the present moment the conclusions drawn from the majority of X-ray examinations of the colon are altogether unreliable and worthless, if not positively misleading, and a menace to the patient's welfare if made a basis for active treatment or operation." Residents of Los Angeles are fortunate indeed in having an office where scientific X-ray fiouroscopic studies may be made in confidence in keeping with Dr. Kellogg's teachings. Dr. L.

A. Brinkley has the largest institution of its kind in the entire world. He has 16 licensed doctors, (all specialists) more than 100 trained technicians and nurses, -3 X-ray fluoroscopic machines which operate 12 full hours each day, where perhaps more fluoroscopic studies are made than in all other doctors' offices in Los Angeles County combined. Dr. Brinkley has a complete laboratory and facilities, 43 air-conditioned treatment rooms where his patients receive the famous Brinkley trial treatment and X-ray fluoroscopic study in comfort without pain or distress.

This notable organization must be seen to be appreciated. At Dr. Brinkley's office, the patient receives an X-ray fluoroscopic study, complete consultation and explanation in simple language plus his famous trial treatment for the small sum of S3.00. Many bring in. X-ray studies and reports made elsewhere for comparison.

Truly, a remarkable service. Amazing testimonials, many diagnosed as incurable, may be seen in my office. DR. L. A.
