Disease-Free Potato Plots Kern County Tests Indicate Victory Over Major Hazard BAKERSFIELD, April 22. More than 100 test plots of seed potatoes, entirely free from disease, were on display to growers today as evidence that the industry has conquered one of its most persistent hazards.

Members of the Kern County Seed Potato Association gathered at the U.S. Department of Agriculture "Experiment Station here to witness the results of a 10-year campaign to produce clean, desease-free seed for the $30,000,000 Kern County industry. Discussion Held T. H. Hankins, acting manager of the association, displayed 116 test plots in which the seed potatoes carried a disease rating of "zero." Hankins and County Agricultural Commissioner Lewis A.

Burtch discussed with the growers the methods of seed testing, selection and production that have resulted in the defeat of the disease menace. The Seed Potato Association, was formed by W. B. Camp, a prominent farmer and pioneer grower, in 1940 when the San Joaquin Valley potato industry was on the verge of ruin because of the inroads of potato diseases. At the annual meeting, the association returned Camp to office for the 10th consecutive term and then discussed a State-wide marketing order for seed potatoes.

The order will result in an orderly program of seed inspecting and testing. There is a vast deal of moral and religious work physicians might do if they would induce people to cleanse the colon as well as the body surface. THE FIRST REQUISITE TO SANCTITY IS TO KEEP THE INTESTINES OPEN. TOXIC POISONS In my office experience I have had many patients present themselves to me for examination who had been put through most exhaustive examinations by other doctors who had told them to go home and forget about their troubles; that there was really nothing wrong with them; that they only imagined they were sick; or that they must be nervous. If these patients do not; suffer from pain, and I cannot discover any organic dis eases I always assume that they are suffering from some form of toxemia, which is in almost every case produced by poisons manufactured within their own bodies, but which have not been eliminated.

The toxins produced in the organism alter the chemistry of the blood and other fluids in which the tissues of the body live. WHEN TOXIC POISONS OR THAT WHICH CAUSES DISEASE IS REMOVED THE RESULT 4S SO EFFECTIVE IN PRODUCING QUICK RESULTS, THAT THE CHANGE EXPERIENCED BY THE SUFFERER IS HARDLY LESS MARKED THAN THAT FELT BY THE PRISON ER WHEN THE AND CHAIN HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM HIS ANKLES. "Metchnikoff has clearly shown that putrefaction germs are the cause of early degeneracy, prema ture oia age ana death. These germs produce most virulent poisons, many of which resemble the venom of snakes, and when present in the feces in large numbers, they are certain proof of the existence of chronic intestinal autointoxication, even though the characteristic symptoms of autointoxication have not yet appeared. A coated tongue, a sallow complexion, dark circles around the eyes, appearance of brown spots upon the hands or other parts (the so-called liver spots), offensive breath and perspiration, the discharge of foul-smelling gases from the bowels, putrid stools, a thin, inelastic parchment-like skin, dullness of mind, inability to concentrate the mind, mental irritability or depression without cause, cold hands and feet, perspiration of the hands and feet, chronic headaches, attacks of migraine or sick headaches these and a score of other symptoms which might be mentioned are certain indications of chronic poisoning, prompt attention to which may prevent the development of later more serious conditions, bucn as naraenmg or tne arteries. isright's disease, with alhumpn casta in the urine, or apoplexy wita paraiysis.

WESTERN TALES Boys Declare Claremont Writer 'Best' CLAREMONT, April 22 When the Boys Clubs of America voted William S. WTarren's "Tony Gay on the Longhorn Trail' one of the books they liked the best'in 1949-1950, his small neighbors on University Circle here weren't surprised. They think that the award was justi William Warren does his cow boy stories for boys and lots of girls in this college city, but he has plenty of actual cowboy experience to draw upon in making ranch life and -work among the cattle come alive for thousands of young Americans. Reared on one of the great cattle ranches of Southeast Colorado, where his father was manager, he began his own work in the roundups at the age of 14. Became Cartoonist Because he had always drawn pictures of horses in action, and of the life on the cattle ranch, he quit the life of a cowboy to go to art school in Chicago.

He became editorial cartoonist on the Chicago Tribune yiile he was still in art school. He returned to Colorado to run his own cattle ranch for six years. When he started to tell the story of cowboys and life on the range in words and pictures for boys, his writing began to be 1 rriore important to him than his ranching- "Normal bowel action is at least three full, evacuations daily. CHIDESTER, A.M.. Group Opposes Tjnnlpr'c Tgy SANTA BARBARA, April 22- The chapter here of the California Tavern Owners Associa tion today declared war on the city's new tax on alcoholic beverages, the so-called "tippler's tax." The new law, which went in to effect the first of the month, covers both package sales and sales over the bars. Spokesmen for the association said the new oi'dinance will cost tavern owners here about 000 annually. They explained that they would have to absorb the tax because it cannot be passed on to the customer with out raising the cost per drink 5 cents. They said it was not prac tical to charge odd-cent prices for "A toaioma.mau" is a per son afflicted with bacilli in the colon.

A striking phase of modern medical science is the amount of attention being devoted to the colon and its toxic contents. PRACTICALLY ALL THE ILLS OF MANKIND ARE CAUSED BY CONSTIPATION. The present age, and the one just passed, regarded alcoholic intoxication as its chief crime breeder, body wrecker, and soul destroyer. The coming age will address itself to the much more common, insidious, and deadly poison that comes from the colon. The esoteric believer attributes all diseases of the body and troubles of the mind to error.

The scientist knows that these little errors can be raised by the quart in the laboratory, and can propagate prodigiously in the human intestine. THE COLON DRUNKARD IS HARDER TO LIVE WITH THAN THE SACCHAROMYCES DRUNKARD (ALCOHOL). Toxemia breaks up happy homes as much as do alcoholics. The man whose elimination is imperfect is irritable. He imagines other people irritate him because he can not conceive how he can De naturally so mean.

Misunderstandings between parent and child, husband and wife, employer and employed, are due to constipation as much as to any other cause. People poisoned by colon bacilli are not their natural selves. They are as irresponsible as whiskey soaks. It is folly to punish them; they ought to go to a doctor. A great deal of what we call Sin.

is due to what the physician calls stasis an imperfect movement of the intestinal contents. A person may have the highest ideals, the purest aspirations, the noblest intentions, he may be a devotee of uplift literature, he may be instant in prayer and earnest of spirit, and yet wonder why gloom, depression, and fear constantly assail him, and he often as not does not realize that his trials are due to a clogged colon and not to any spirit of evil. If he would get the colon bacilli out of his system his terrible temptations would disappear. If you would know why domestic friction exists, why children are bad, why boys run away from home, why girls seem sometimes possessed of the evil one, why business relations become intolerable, why workmen can not get along together, why there is dissension in the church, why perfectly sane and sober folk suddenly develop the most outrageous cantankerousness, the cause is not in original sin nor the influence of psychic current; it is more likely to be found in the vicious company of militant bacilli in the colon. "The Toxic-Maniac" is the real "hunter for trouble," he craves trouble as a drunkard in his cups.

"The Toxic-Maniac" "tries first one way and then another to get an irritated response to an irri tating question or assertion. He eventually brings upon himself almost any calamity that he fears. the influence of persis tent suggestion." The individual with his colon full of bacilli is conscious of a vague discomfort, and oftea takes PH.D says: "Two of the most distinguished cancer experts in -the world (one British and the other American) have furnished -evidence that not only rectal cancer but breast cancer has been cured in hundreds of cases by relieving INTESTINAL STASIS. from the end of the long piei by means of a permanent derrick. Other facilities are in place for use of the boatmen.
