Mrs.

Jacqueline Piatigorsky of Los Angeles and Mrs. Gisela Gresser of New York, who were teamed together for the first time in this event, won four matches and tied one for a point score of 8-2. The same total was amassed by the team representing Czechoslovakia, but the Americans were awarded the victory on the Sonne-born-Berger tie-breaking sys-' tern. The Americans defeated Denmark and Poland in the first two rounds, by scores of Improving on that performance, they posted 2-0 victories over Ireland and Scotland.
