Record Told Under restricted use of materials, Chevrolet so far in 1951 has built approximately 985,000 cars and 380,000 trucks. Ford has built about 795,000 Ford cars and 283,000 trucks in the 'same period. Keating noted today that with the exception of three years, his company since 1927 has built more automobiles than any other manufacturer. He recalled also that General Motors seriously considered dropping Chevrolet from Its line of cars in the early 1920s. Chevrolet's first passenger car was a five passenger touring model, with a list price of S2150.

Factory "retail prides, for its current models range from $1428.72 for a two-door sedan to. $2144 for a station wagon. Wiles said, "We have no thought of putting it into production. The material situation precludes any possibility of that. Under present material restrictions it would be practjcally impossible to duplicate this car." Two Carburetors The super-streamlined XP-300 is powered by a 300-horse-power, super-charged V-8 engine hooked up to a special pynaflow unit.

It is mounted on a416-inchwheelbase and has an over-all length of 192.5 inches. It stands 39.1 inches high at the cowl and Is 80 inches wide.
