The young boy's name is Alan Steele, he is 12 years old and he will have the bright key part of the youngster in "Ten Days to Talara," around whom an exciting chase in the Andes revolves. The deal was arranged just before Director Richard Wilson, who will have charge of this picture, had to leave for Havana to undertake "The Big Boodle" with Errol Flynn and Rosanna Rory. Barker's venture as a talent scout was carried out while he was on a fishing trip, at San Diego. Skipper of the boat was the father of young Steele and Barker found him so interesting in conversation that he recommended him to Wilson with the result that the director deemed him ideally suited to the part in the picture -which will be shot to some extent in Peru: Barker is under contract to U-I.

No sooner did Dolores Gray arrive in New York for her TV spectacular with Perry Como than she received a script of "Anna Christie," which George Abbott is to present as a musical. It's not the -only stage subject that came to hand for her in Gotham, but it seemed like most promising for a fall engagement. Miss Gray played the glamorous gossip in "The Opposite Sex." Oddly enough she is never seen singing, but supplies background vocalizing at one point in the MGM film. There is a part for an American girl in the subject, which is said to resemble "My Sister Eileen" and Miss Earle is pretty well set for that. Her father, J. B.
