The Times has the following Gen. Pleas-anton reached Rapidan river at Raccoon Ford, yesterday forenoon, after considerable heavy skirmishing between Culpepper and that point. Up to that time no rebel infantry had been met with, though a heavy force of rebel cavalry had been driven back by our force. Fighting waa going on at Raccoon Ford yesterday, the enemy vigorously resisting all our attempts to cross. It is supposed a brigade of rebel infantry was at that point resisting our advance.

They were soon followed by a company of militia.Capt. Geo. W. Barr. Arriving at the river they formed in line of battle at the boat landing, determined that Guitar should not enforce his order on thia Bide ol the river.

Guitar had captured the ferry boat and ordered a company on board pre paratory to crossing. Whilo on board the boat Guitar's soldiers declared they would not cross the river, and some of them left the boat and returned to their quarters. Guitar finding the darkies and militia determined to fight, and almost a mutiny among his troops, revoked the order, and his soldiers returned to their quarters, cheering for Jim. Lane, Jennison, Kansas and the negroes, and while the soldiers and loyal citizens of St. Jo.

were greatly rejoiced at the defeat of Guitar, the General remained at the Pacific House, weep ing, wailing and gnashing his teeth at the impudence of the negroes and people of El-wood for attempting to prevent the execution of his order.
