The festival will last for eight days, an additional candle being lighted in the homes on each succeeding day until, on the final evening, each home altar vill be ablaze with lights. 'That Custom springs from the tradition of the "miracle" that happened upon rededication of the temple at Jerusalem. When the victors re-entered their temple they found only one cruze of oil, but the wick continued to burn for eight days. 8th TUESDAY, Dec. 9th 3 locked, the doors work perfectly on their and the furniture inside was undisturbed except that the mattresses had suffered from 50 years of pack-rat homesteading. Antique Treasures Whitlock apparently had been virtually forgotten for 50 years until the Visels stumbled on it They were so intrigued by the locked houses with their antique treasures dimly to be seen through the cobwebby windows that they. spent a week finding the heirs "and owners. When they did succeed in this, they closed a deal for 103 acres, including the old town site.

Then they dashed up with pass keys and began to rummage through their newly-acquired prizes. First thing they discovered was a mustache cup. Several gold rockers and riffles-used in primitive mining were uncovered. A mahogany highboy was found in one house. Antique glass and china and some fine wrought iron wer in others.

But a Pasadena couple has just gone out and found a ghost town, intact with window panes, a mustache cup and other antiques-all within a few hours drive of Los Angeles. They even have bought the place. Mr.

and 'Mrs. Parulsen Visel have returned to their home at 902 N. Los Robles Ave. with pictures of their privaie ghost town, which they stumbled upon by accident in the mountains. It is located six and a half miles north of Mariposa in the Mother Lode country, and is named Whitlock.

Gold-Rush Town "Whitlock really was quite a town during the gold rush," Visel said yesterday. "It had a school, church and store, and even a boothill cemetery. Quite a number of houses were there at one time, but when richer gold strikes came in other areas, most of these were moved away. All we actually found now were three of the 'main houses and a few utilitarian outhouses." Visel said the most amazing thing about the "ghost town" is that none of the window panes was broken, all of the doors were 7b WEDNESDAY, Dec. 10th EVENINGS ONLY AT 8 O'CLOCK Pine Steiner Fine Black White Black P-K4 22-K-N P-QN4 N-QB3 23-R-03 P-N-i N-B3 24-R-KN3 B-Q2 B-B4 25-P-N3 Q-R3 P-Q3 25-Q-QB P-B5 i B-N3 27-PxP B-N3 O-O 28-N-B3 QxP K-QR4 29-N-Q2 Q-K7 NxB 30-N-N3 QxKP N-N5 31-R-K.
