Broadway, S.A. KI-2-5036 ARNOLD E. HOWARD'S fl IMPORTED MB Mickle entertained with not one but two gay Mexican motif luncheons at her Lido Nord waterfront home. The spicy repast was served on the terrace over-looking the bay and brought together Newport friends who had just returned from a summer away from the wonderful harbor area. The first luncheon was given Sept 16.

Among guests were Helen (Mi's. Bert) Coffey; Dorothy (Mrs. George) Yardley; Ginny, (Mrs. Art) Williams, Sally (Mrs. Harvey) Somers, Lelia (Mrs.

Jack) Scruggs, and Jane (Mrs. Howard) Lawson. Co-hostess with Betty Mickle for her luncheon early this week was Aileen (Mrs. Walter) Elliott. Lagunans on Vacation at Near, Far Points The hither and yon department seems mostly concerned with those lucky ones who live in Laguna yet manage to leave its scenic beauty for travel to places far and near.

Portland, tempted Mr. and Mrs. Barney Sie-monsma, who stopped en route at Sacramento to admire sights at the State Fair. Elmer Brown, that traveling man, just returned from South Pacific shores. Pat and Bill Miller no sooner settled in their beautiful new Emerald Bay home than they locked its doors for a trip on wings to Hawaii.

This is a pleasure trip for the Millers, but not in the usual sense of the word. The pleasure comes from inspecting property they bought and planning a new home in our newest state, where someday they may reside permanently. A few nights before they left they were entertained by an intimate group of friends at a Hawaiian buffet supper poolside at the home of John Nelson and Eve Hurtt. Laguna Also Offers Some Romantic News From the Laguna home front comes romantic news. It seems that Donald Martin Gustafson of Los Angeles will wed lovely Ann Morris Campbell, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. a Hays Morris of Balboa, Oct. 17 in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Newport Beach. Yes, this does have something to do with Laguna, for the bridegroom's grandmother is Mrs.

Wilber M. Pearce of the coastal city. Ropers Greet Guests at Corona del Mar Mrs. Robert Roper of Driftwood, Corona del Mar, delightedly welcomed her sister, Mrs. Albert Holmes, from Bowen, 111.

Also a visitor was her brother, R. A. Veach, who recently moved from Beverly Hills to Santa Ana. Beautifully dressed in silver lame in a fashion of her own designing, Dorothy O'Hara was a lovely Mrs. H.

J. Lunney for the recent celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary arranged by her husband. Hank, as he is best known in the Newport Harbor area, displayed those unusual talents of his own, which have included much of the management of his wife's fabulous career, in planning the cocktail-buffet for 75 guests. The beautiful Lido Isle home of Lunneys is tropical-modern in design. This attractive setting was further enhanced with white and silver flower arrangements.

A seven-tiered white wedding cake and champagne were highlights of the evening, following the buffet supper. Among guests were Marian and Burr Maple of Lido Isle, who doubtlessly looked upon a mere 25 years of marital bliss with indulgence, since they celebrated their own 30th wedding anniversary a few days later with a trip to Palm Springs. Among other guests were Helen and Harry Kelso, Allison and Dick Loveland, Roberta Jane and Willis Hunt, Catherine and George Buccola, Amelia and Marty Lockney, and Ginny Smith, assisting with party affairs in 'smooth fashion. Ed, it should be mentioned, was still at the Smiths' Catalina Marineros Camp Smiths Survive Rigors of Summer Camp The story of Ed and Ginny Smith and their daughter, Joyce, their Ma-rinos Camp and Totoa, the Pekingese who shared mascot honors with two goats, is one that should be written between the covers of a best "do-it-yourself" seller. Ginny's recipe for a hap py summer is a mixture of small boys, boats, lost tooth brushes, misty-eyed parents and college boy counselors who sometimes take more looking after than their young charges! Anyway, twas a happy ending for the camp, or a to-be continued in next summer as the Smiths closed Catalina Marineros and returned to their Lido Isle home.

Last week end, however, they entertained at their. Fourth of July home on the island (that's the name of the Their guests were Sophia and Doug Disney. A motor trip to Wrig-ley Ranch, El Rancho Es- condido, included a horse show. The Disneyg sailed to Catalina aboard their pic turesque condordia Yawl, Vetsera, all red-hulled with white accents. The Smiths are planning a series of beach parties this fall at their new Catalina cove.
