Rotary Club Los Angeles Rotary Club celebrated "drag-down" day at the Statler yesterday, demoting retiring President William M. McCloy and ele-vatirfg his successor, Dr. W. Ballentine Henley. ", Chief "dragger- downer" was a former president of Club 5, James E. Shelton, president of the Security-First National Bank, who jokingly dealt in terms complimentary and otherwise regarding Mc-Cloy's year in office. Given Silverware Shelton also presented, on behalf of the club, a set of sterling silver flatware to the outgoing president, who is an executive of the General Appraisal Co. Another gift from the club was a bronze plaque bearing the signatures of 397 active members. McCloy officially turned over the gavel to Henley, president of the College of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons. Cornero Called in Stock Sales Tony Cornero, former Los Angeles gambler, yesterday was ordered to appear before U.S. Judge Ben Harrison next July 18 and show cause why he should not produce records of stock sales in his new Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas. In the petition filed by G. M. Cuthbertson, enforcement officer for the Securities and Exchange Commission here, ft was alleged that Cornero had sold large shares of the stock in the new $6,000,000 hotel, which is not yet com pleted, but had failed to file statements of the sales with SEC as required by law. The petition alleged that the only statement regarding stock sales made by Cornero was filed in July, 1954, but was withdrawn three months later. Commission Commends Callicott A resolution commending Ransom M. Callicott for his work as a member of the City Civil Service Commission was adopted yesterday by the com mission, Callicott was elected a member of the City Council at the April municipal election and will take that office next Friday. He has been a Civil Service Commissioner for two years He will succeed Mrs. Harriett Davenport on the Council. Mrs. Davenport, appointed in 1953 to fill a vacancy created by the death of her husband, Ed J. Davenport, did not run for the office. Nobel Winner to Speak Dr. Linus Pauling, Nobel Prize recipient in chemistry, will be the principal speaker tomorrow evening at the Southland Jewish Organisation's 12th annual donor program at the Statler. OBITUARY Walter Vinson Masonic funeral services for Walter Lloyd Vinson, 66, founder of the Vinson Manu facturing Co. of Van Nuys, will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. today by Forest Lawn Mortuary in the Wee , Kirk o' the Heather followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park. Mr. Vinson, long-time Valley resident, was a member of the Sunset Lodge 352, F&AM, Al Malaikah Shrine, and a life member of the San Fernando Valley Shrine Club. He died June 17 while vacationing at Natchez, Miss. He leaves his widow, Cleo; a sister, Mrs. Lillie Whitworth, Avinger, Tex., and a brother, William Vinson, Madera. Charles K. Callow Funeral services for Charles K. Callow, 64, a native of the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea, were conducted yesterday in the Little Church of the Flowers, Forest Lawn Memorial-Park. Mr. Callow died in Gen eral ! Hospital Monday. He came to the United States as a young man in his teens and farmed for a number of years in Kansas. In the early 1920s Mr. Callow moved to Los An geles and had lived at 1530 W 58th Place for the past 27 years. He worked as a studio carpenter and was a member of several flower clubs, such as the Pacific Rose Society and National Fuchsia Society He was also a member of the the Los Angeles Manx Society and was a Mason. During World War II, Mr. Callow donated 15 pints of blood to the Red Cross. - Mrs. Louise Prime Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Elizabeth Prime, 93, a resident here for 45 years who died Wednesday, will be conducted at 2 p.m. today by Forest Lawn Mortuary in the Little Church of the Flowers, followed by interment at Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, A native of Hull, Eng., Mrs. Prime made her home at 5028 Denker Ave. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Lois Boutelle, Los Angeles; Mrs. Elsie Newton, Medford, Or.; three sons, Walter C. Prime and George W, Prime, Los Angeles; Frank v. JFnme, Pasadena; a sister. Miss Harriet J. Smith, Los Angeles; six grandchildren an done great-grandchild. Eliseo Roybal Requiem Mass for Eliseo Roybal, 88, will be celebrated today at 9 a.m. in Precious Blood Catholic Church, with Pierce Bros. Los Angeles Mortuary in charge of arrange ments. Mr. Koybal was born in La Liendre, N.M., and died Wednesday at his home, 822 S Coronado St, He leaves his widow Marina; five daugh ters, three sons, one sister and five grandchildren. Suttle, 83, who lived here for 82 years, will be con ducted at 3 p.m. today in the Chapel of the Chimes, Ingle wood Park Cemetery, fol lowed by interment, with Cunningham & O'Connor Los Angeles Mortuary in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Suttle, who died Thursday, was a na tive of Chicago and resided here at 2211 W 75th St. She leaves two Bisters, Mrs. Edith Sparks and Mrs. Dorothy Rosebaum. Frances MacGregor Funeral services for Mrs Frances Sorensen MacGregor of Los Angeles, New York and Westport, Ct., who died Tues day in the East after a long illness, will be conducted today in New York City. A premier danseuse and noted sportswoman, she .formerly was a dance director and performed in pictures at MGM studios here. As a sportswoman, Mr3. MacGreg or hunted big game, won a number of trophies at skeet in this country and Cuba, and also was the first woman to fish giant tuna off Nova Scotia. During World War II she served as a captain in the AWVS in Atlanta, Ga. She leaves her husband, George P. MacGregor; a son, Sandy, and a daughter, Bonnie. Hans C. Hansen Funeral services for Hans C. Hansen, 89, retired build ing contractor, will be con ducted at 3 p.m. today in Pierce Bros. Little Church Around the Corner, followed by entombment in Inglewood Park Musoleum. Born in Den mark, he came here 33 years ago and lived at 5444 Victoria Ave. He died Thursday and leaves six : daughters, Mrs, Clara Petersen, Mrs. Alma Bell, Mrs. Esther Brookbank, Mrs. Ottilia Goswiller, Mrs. Kathinka Lyon and Mrs. Anna Bucknam; two sons, Thorvald and Oscar Hansen; 14 grandchildren and 16 greatgrandchildren. King E. Fisher Rosary for King Edward Fisher, 65, was recited last night at St. Stephen's Church. Requiem Mass wil be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at the same church.
