The most interesting and exciting event of Al-hambra's eleventh birthday celebra tion today was the baby show, which was won by Eloise Hovey, Miriam Cuthbert and Lee William Risler, who were three of the thirty-seven babies exhibited. In the water battle fought by fire men, Maurice Grensted won for his company. The punishment meted out to the others was severe. Griffith was followed by a programme of music and recitation by the children. The evening of the same day, a band concert and moving pictures were the attraction at Memorial hall. Friday afternoon, as before referred to, Hon. S. M.

On Friday evening the stage of Memorial Hall was occupied by a company of amateurs, comprising Saw-telle's moRt exclusive young people which, under auspices of the Woman's Club of Sawtelle, gave a most excellent presentation of the eomle opera M. A short time ago as the Overland Limited passed through South Pasa dena a rock was thrown through one of the windows. Owing to the fact that a few days before a tramp had stoned the same train while passing through Lamanda park, it was sup posed he was guilty of the offense In this city. One of the boys confessed.

Gaffney, No. 924 Blaine street, on February 15, 1913, and subsequently was traced to Emllio Lopez of No. 725 East Seventh street, from whom Mendez Is said to have stolen it. i The prisoner refused to give an account of his actions, except that he had bought a knife yesterday after noon to kill Lopez.

In the mistaken belief that she had rwallowed carbolic acid, Mrs. George Dunbar, 52 years old, of No. 3031 Eagle street, was taken to the Receiving Hospital last night and died within a few minutes, without having regained consciousness.
