Contracted Diseases I cure these ailments more quickly, with less pain and inconvenience than anyone claiming to treat successfully those conditions. Has your case become chronio through Improper treatment or through the use of caustic remedies? Has It caused a deep-seated inflammation and irritation in the urinary tract, the result of which you now suffer from stricture? My treatment cures these conditions quickly and the cure is permanent, mm DR.

TAVI.OR, The Leading Specialist Weakness If other phrslrians have treated you for so-called "weakness" you were helped only temporarily. If at nil, nnd the reason is very apparent when the cause of loss of power In man is understood. "Weakness" Isn't a weak ness at all, but is merely a symptom of chronio inflammation In the prostate gland, brought on by early dissipation or' some contracted disorder. My system of local treatment removes this Inflammation, and is the only treatment that has ever or ever can permanently- restore strength and vigor. Varicocele Many who are but slightly afflicted with varicocele believe that the trouble is of little consequence.

The opposite is true. Varicocele is a disease of a progressive nature. As it advances, nervous complications1 come, power diminishes, and the general health is impaired. I cure varicocele in Ave days. Contracted Disorders Every case of contracted disease I treat is thoroughly cured.

My patients have no relapses. When I pronounce a case cured there la not a particle of Infection or inflammation remaining, and there Is not the slightest danger that the disease will return in its original form or work its way Into the general system. No contracted disorder is so trivial as to warrant uncertain methods of treatment, and I especially solicit those cases that other doctors have been unable to cure. I also unfailingly cure lost vigor, organlo weakness, hydrocele, stricture and all reflex ailments. Consultation and advice are both FREE If you cannot call, write for Diagnosis Chart.

YOU PAY WHEN CURED. i i "The St. James," THE growing popularity of apart-ment-houaes la causing them Jo encroach on trrounds heretofore (considered exclusively reserved for high-class residences.

The latest move on this line Is in fashionable St. James Park. In the southern side of St. James Park, with a north frontage on the botanical gardens, and one lot east of Scarff street, there is to be built immediately one of the handsomest apartment-houses in the city. It will Cost fully 140,000.

This deal was closed by McDonald Stott Company of No. 309 Lanker-hlm building. The house will be built NION NEGLECTS DYING MEMBER, I.T.U. CARD FOUND ON VICTIM OF POVERTY AND PHTHISIS. Richest of Totemite Organisations Fails to Give Aid to Adherent Who Falls Helpless on Street from Months of Privation and Weakness Through Ravages of Consumption.

Ills union card did Thomas Hughes but little good. And yet when they picked up Hughes dazed, panting hoarsely from the sidewalk, where he had fallen, at Fifth and Main streets, the man had the bit of pasteboard in his pocket. He had kept It as carefully as though it were a talisman. For did not that card tell that Thom-es Hughes belonged to the International Typographical Union? Yet they picked him up from the sidewalk last evening at Fifth and Wain; and place to lay his head he had none. "Tuberculosis," said the Receiving Hospital report.

It meant little to those who scan these reports, for tuberculosis is a. common tragedy. But In this case tne word covered a story. Thomas Hughes, pressman, lived in Angeles Ave years, "off and on," ea he himself put it. In the days hen health was good and wages came regularly hu was an active unit in that crowd known as the International Typographical Union.

He paid his dues, and he was in "good standing." Came consumption. 'Thomas Hughes felt its first touch in a cold which kept him from work for some time. A dry cough remained. He grew thin. He stooped.

His shoulders narrowed. Ho was a sick man, hideously sick, for the disease slowly crawled further further Into his system. Tuberculosrf la always a grim tragedy grimmest when it acts this way. Thomas Hughes became irregular at his work. In the end ha stopped presswork altogether.

He wasn't able to do it. He tried at odd Jobs' here and there. He became something of a wanderer. And always he grew poorer. The faith which was in him and the devotion made him cherish his union card.

"And these things made him pay his dues as long as he could. In the last year tuberculosis began to move faster. Those awful spasms of, -suffering, which leave the victim sll but and close to longed-for death, became more frequent. He stopped working. He was a shadow of a man.

His brother kept Thomas Hughes elive. They lived in a tent at Highland Park. A few months ago the brother had to leave for Toronto, Canada, because of a sick wife. After he had gone he sent Thomas Hughes what he could not much $3 a week. A pitiful sum, this, tiut it can hold body and soul together.

And then there was a sister who sent an odd dollar or two, as she could. "She's poor herself' gasped Thomas Hughes, apologetically, on his hospital cot. In these last few months came a horrible struggle for life which only a poverty-stricken wretch with the hold of the white plague on him can understand. He applied to the union for aid. His request met with no response.

Thomas Hughes became a pariah. Lepers In the days of old Judea vr -vre stoned. In this only were they worse treated than was Thomas Hughes in this twentieth century in Los Angeles. Ho tried one rnnmlnir-hnuso sfter another. Of necessity they were cheap ones.

In one or two ha was able to stay a week. In many he lasted a day or two. before they told him to leave, with his diseasn. One niRht he crawled Into Penfol Hull end listened to men tell of th Fnvlnr end the Sheltering Arms. And hn beeped tf" shelter they offered tu 'Vie tbli-f.

the outcast and the brgjir. lis was thrown first apartment house to be built In by Johnston, and is to be complete in all its appointments, and in keeping with the location. The building will be frame and cement, mission style, and is designed in apartments from two to six rooms, with bath, steam heat, telephones, hardwood polished floors, beam ceilings, and other latest things in popular residential structure. An attractive and unique feature will be the servants' quarters, enabling: the lessees of the apartments to employ servants "yithout the necessity of having them in their own apartments. This feature will be attractive to many Los Ancelea people who favor out after the first night.

Some one had heard his cough. In that house of Worship and refuge Thomas Hughes managed to practice deceit. He was able, by eluding night clerks who knew him, and by using fictitious names, to get several lodgings. In the end he had to give this up. Pariah like the man might as well have wandered the streets crying "Unclean! Unclean!" he stole into new rooming-houses.

Labor Day he managed to crawl into the canshlne and watch the parade with Its gorgeous floats. Lager sightseers shoved him to one side and he stood by himself coughing dryly. Last night they cast him forth from a lodging-house near Fifth and Main. Ha went down the stairs, out on the sidewalk. The streets were alive with people, and the noise of grinding car wheels smote his tired nerves.

His head whirled. very weak. He reeled as he walked. "Look at the drunken brute!" said one woman to another. Thomas Hughes did not hear.

Things were getting black before him. He sank in a heap on the sidewalk a ragged heap. It caught the eye of a patrolman. He sent in a call. And the ambulance bore Thomas Hughes to the Receiving Hospital.

When they searched him the police found in an inner pocket a worn card his union card "The International Typographical Union" was the emblem on its face. Huh! It Is a great order whose device Thomas Hughes so faithfully cherished a great order, and rich. It has spent thousands upon thousands of dollars in Los Angeles and elsewhere "downing The Times," and its bosses wax fat on the dues its dupes pay but it seems to have forgotten Thomas Hughes. It has forgotten many others such as he. It wants men to help It not men who need help.

At the point of a revolver Robert Connor drove Albert Hill from Connor's home on East Main street to the Baker Block on North Main street, early yesterday morning, and there turned Hill over to Patrolman J.
