Area News THE DAILY GLOBE, Ironwood, MI Tuesday, July 22, 1997 Page 2 Obituaries Jeanne Hegbloom SAXON, Wis. Jeanne M. Hegbloom, 60, of Defer Street, Saxon, died Saturday in Saxon, Wis. She was born Aug. 21, 1936, in Asbland, daughter of the late John and Hermine (Gervis) Parkinson.

She attended St. Agues and Chicago schools and also the University of WisconsinSuperior. She was employed by a telephone company in Louisiana and also in Chicago, was a journalist for the Superior Telegram, and was also employed by CEP in Ashland. Jeanne also worked as a waitress in the Ashland area. She was a member of the Amer'ican Legion Auxiliary, Saxon Mercier-Kero Post 0371, and was a member of St.

Ann's Catholic Church in Saxon and its service club. Sbe was an avid crafter. Jeanne was married to James Allen and Jim Hubbard. They both preceded her in death. She then married James Heg.

bloom on Nov. 11, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nev. He survives in on. Charles Bailey BERGLAND Charles E. Bailey, born March 31, 1926, passed away at St.

Mary's Hospital in Duluth, on Wednesday, July 16, 1997. Charles was the son of the late Frank and Belle (Borton) Bailey and was a resident of Bergland his entire lifetime. After graduating from Bergland School, Charlie served his country in the U.S. Army, receiving the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European-African- Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. After being honorably discharged in 1946, be was a cab driver, then worked for Ontonagon County and finally worked his way to retirement at the White Pine copper mine.

Charlie loved music, golfing and "traveling with Kay." He was an active member in the American Legion Post 562, Bergland, and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars at the Ponti-Peter- Marie VerBunker UNION GROVE, Wis. Marie C. (Tocci) VerBunker, 68, died on July 18, 1997, at ber home in Union Grove, Wis. She was born on May 28, 1929, in Montreal, to the late James and Catherine (Mezzano) Tocci. Marie attended the Montreal Grade School and graduated from the Hurley High School in 1948.

She was a homemaker and also belonged to the Ladies Miasion Society of St. Robert's Church in Union Grove. She was an avid knitter, donating many of her articles to her church in Union Grove and also to the Sacred Heart Church in Montreal. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many, many years. Marie married Earl VerBunker on June 20, 1953 at the Sacred Heart Church in Montreal.

He aurvives. After marriage, they lived in Montreal and Grand Marais, Frances Johnson Frances K. Johnson, 73, of Hurley, passed away Sunday, July 20, 1997, in Green Bay, Wis. She was born July 29, 1923, in Oma Township, to George Kostelnik and Mary Krall. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Ironwood, On May 27, 1943.

she was married to Toivo W. "Tubby" Johnson in Memphia, Tenn. He preceded her in death on June 1, 1986. Frances is survived by five children: Tom and Judy Jobnson of Two Rivers, Kathy Johnson of Baraboo, Mary and Gene Vandevoorde of Green Bay, Mark Johnson and Laura Prokopovitz, Pulaski, and Linda and Dennis Buzzar, of Pocono Summit, six grandchildren; Club to meet The Ironwood Woman's Club will hold a luncheon meeting at noon Thursday at the Elk and Hound. Fred Lane WAKEFIELD Fred Lane, 91, of Wakefield, died Monday at Wakefeld. Mr. Lane was born to the late John and Martha (Trevithick) Lane at Calumet, on April 19, 1906. He had lived for most of his life in Wakefield, coming from the Calumet area when he was seven years old. Mr.

Lane attended school at Wakefield. was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church. Mr. Lane was employed on a railroad section crew, for the Federal Forestry, at the Wakefield Iron, Sunday Lake, Ramsay and Vicar mines and worked for the Michigan Highway Department on the survey crew retiring in 1971. He was married to Mary Delich in 1934 at Wakefield.

She survives. Also surviving is a son, Robert Lane, Wakefield; a daughter, Mrs. Marlene (Carl) Knutilla, McHenry, a brother, Roy Jennie Honkanen Jennie Inez Honkanen, 83, of 106 Lake Drive, Hurley, died Sunday, July 20, in Ashland, Wis. Sbe was born in Hinkley, Kimball Township, Aug. 29, 1913, daughter of the late Henry and Ida (Haapala) Risku.

Jennie attended Meadville schools, and later in life received her GED. She was employed in various homes throughout the area, cleaning and cooking, and as a mother's helper. She was a member and past president of the Elizabeth Circle, a member of the Presbyterian Church in Hurley and served as a Sunday School teacher for 17. years, was a member of the Iron County Historical Society where she volunteered for several years, and was also a member of the PTA Jennie was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and quilting. She was honored at the Iron County Fair for her handwork.

Her greatest accomplishment was being a devoted mother and grandmother. On Sept. 8, 1938 she was married to John O. Honkanen at the First Presbyterian Manse by the late Rev. C.L.

Harries. John preceded ber in death Aug. 11, 1992. She is survived by two sons, Walter Fehr Walter J. Fehr, age 84, of Presque lale, died Saturday evening July 19, 1997, in the Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff.

He was born April 20, 1913, son of the late Alfred and Rose (nee Egger) Fehr in Chicago, Illinois. He was married to the former Bernice Mondrall and she survives. Surviving, besides his wife Bernice, are a son, Jon (Karin) Fehr of Crofton, a daughter, Judith (Terrance) Hickman of Ironwood; five grandchildren Erik, Jason and Ashley Fehr, Mackenzie and Allie Hickman; a sister, Eleanor (Charles) Bernard of Phoenix, Ariz. Mr. Fehr was preceded in death by his brothers Alfred Jr.

and Henry. Walter retired as personnel manager for General Electric in 1970 after 36 years with the company. He had received an engineering degree from Northwestern University and his law degree from DePaul University of Chicago. Lucille Ulvila OCONOMOWOC, Wis. Lucille M.

Ulvila, 73, of Oconomowoc, died on July 13, 1997, at Memorial Hospital at Oconomowoc. She wag married in 1953 to Larry Ulvila of Wakefield. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parenta, Mr. and Mrs.

Besides her parents and band, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Oliver Risku, Eugene Riaku, and Oiva Risku, and two sisters, Esther Ketola and Laina Edel. Funeral services will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Hurley on Thursday, July 24, at 11 a.m.
