VENTURA, Sept. farmers of this county are feeling pretty good over the bean yews from the North to the effect that bean prices are going up, and will be booming within a few-weeks. The raise will come Just about the time the beans are In the sack an I rfady for shipment. It is a fact that there will be a material shortage In the crop this year, and the wonder has been that the upward movement has not come before, anil no doubt would have done so. but for the persistent efforts of the bears, who whipped down the prices with the object of later Betting control of the market.

With their corner complete they could have arranged price to suit themselves, and could more than make up for any present losses. It Is true that the shortage In the North and which is scaring up the prices is only as regards small whites, but the bean market is peculiar In that one kind of benn affct-ts another and ad In the market. There are aboup 10,000 acres less of beans in San Joaquin county this year than last. Last year there were fully 35.000 in that county, while the prices prevailing now are higher than the opening prices last year, when beans sold for $2 to This year Lady Washiugtnns are bring. Ing from $2.50 to $2.60.

With these con. ditions existing It Is Utile wonder that northern bean men are getting anxious for a supply, and that prices are on the Jump, and that there is likely to be a bean boom.
