ft 1 TUFT REPUBLICAN STATE 8. S. CONVENTION. (Continued from First Page) might hang around the establishment. Just before turning us loose Mr.

Grimm thanked us for our coming and told us that no doubt we had seen so many things that we could not remember half" of them, yet most of it would come to us as we thought on our trip. One thing he desired tbnt we should remember was the fact that Armour's would appreciate it if we used their products and urged others to do likewise. Handing each delegate an Armour badge, he I Millions Say So. When millions of people fn all parts of the world, engaged in practically every line of business immaginable say that it does pay a man to associate his business with a good bank, do you believe it? Go into any town or community and pick out the best and most progressive business men and you will find that their business interests are closely associated with the banking institutions of the I If the best business men tbe world over recognize the importance of associating their business wiih a good bank and do it, does it not mean that if your business is to prosper and succeed you should identify it with a strong hanking institution? tuts-. Because entrenched behind this machine he permits neither counsel nor advice from the rank and file of the party, but arrogantly defies them to place in the field a Republican candidate for nomination against him. Because while a. candidate for Gov-ernor 'he i3 also a candidate for United States senator two yearg hence, has selected his own successor and is using the power given him by the party to further those ends. Because not content with dictating nominations for every state office and for members of the legislature he has selected candidates to oppose six of the Kansas members in Congress, men who have loyally supported the President, and regardless of their long service and fitness is determined to da feat them to increase his own power.

Because he has not hesitated in the furtherance of his plans to ally himself with the opposition, depends for his re-nomination on the hope of Democratic support and invites Democratic votes to control Republican nominations, in violation of the letter Qnd spirit of the primary law. Because in the legislation he has recommended he has sought only the multiplication of boards and offices whose appointments should come from him, vastly increasing the expensa of government. "IN .1: MM It invited us all to come again. We are next taken by Mr. Dehoney to the Loose Wiles Candy Cracker fao-tory.

I wish that every one of our read ers could have seen what we saw. There were candy and crackers galore. A halt was made in front of the great cracker ovens where pan after pan of the famous Takoma biscuits were dumped out hot onto a table. All were invited to help themselves, which they did, but we'll venture the assertion that there were few biscuits taken home judging from the way in which the visitors sent them home to their stomachs. One of the most beautiful sights to us was the department.

where candies are frosted. A long elevator 3 or 4 feet wide conveys the candies, which are strung in rows, through the tank containing the frosting, and after being dipped pwsentan appearance which beggars description. We are sure our delegation will sing the Because not content with the immense power of the Governor's office he proposes to deprive the peopla of TIN SHOP. PECK, Grainfield. THOMAS E. WAGSTAFF, Candidate for the Republican Nomination for Governor. At a conference of 1,000 Kansas Republicans held at Topeka, April 21st, representing 85 of the 105 counties of the State, the following resolutions were unanimously adopted: We renew our allegiance to the Republican party, believing that more than ever before it represents the sole hope of wise and efficient government In this country and we particularly pledge our unqualified support to President Taft and condemn' unsparingly the efforts of Governor Stubbs through bis personal organs to discredit a Republican President, defeat his re-nomination and disrupt the party to make them appointive by the Gover- Praf9 Vf Takoma biscuit and other nor, and thus center in himself every product.ons of the Loosed lies Candy function of Envprnmpnt. everv source Cracker factory.

Because by his oppressive use of the power of his office, his factional instincts, his dominating and vindica tive temper, his unsparing denuncia In passing over into Kansas City, Mo. we gaze with wonder at the massive sky scrapers. Our delegates scattered in all directions and a party composed of Sam'l Campbell and wife, formerly of Gove county, Mrs. Mummert and daughter, formerly of Trego county, and the editor, wife and two children stopped for a rest up at the Junction hotel where we met our old friends Mr.

and Mrs B. S. Eldred, formerly of this city. Here we spent a very pleasant hour renewing old acquaintance and relating past experiences. We visited the city library, where we saw some interesting sights in art and statuary, also the museum of no small dimensions.

The K. C. Star office and Emery, Bird Co. mercantile establishment were next in order and from here we wended out way to the Western Type Foundry, where we left an order for more new type and printing material. Farm Machinery jjj nave siock.

Because his re-nomination would mean the triumph of factionalism, exalt the Stubbs Autocracy above the party, injure the national administration and jeopardize Republican success in November. We heartily endorse the candidacy of Thomas E. Wagstaff for the Republican nomination for Governor. He knows uo faction smaller than the whole party, is allied to no interests save those of all Republicans.

In his private life he is clean, in his public life courageous and independent. He achieved the first successful enforcement of the Prohibitory Law and blazed the way for other officials to From here we went to the home of Elder Isaac Crist and family, who are doing a grand work in the home missionary cause for the Church of the Brethren. We are for President Taft because lie is fulfilling every pledge of the party platform. Because in one year he has changed a deficit into a surplus and by wise economies saved millions of the peoples money without impairing the efficiency of any branch of the government. Because he ha3 urgently recommended all measures necessary to carry into effect the wise and beneficial policies of Theodore Roosevelt, for whose courageous statesmanship the people of this state have the pro-foundest admiration.

Because he has improved the public service, enforced the laws with vigor and taught, ''Malefactors of great wealth that they must oey the law." 'under his administration the people of this state have enjoyed increase of prosperity, unparal-lelled In their history. Because he is wise, patient and forbearing, the President of the whole country, the leader of the whole party without regard to section. Because the opposition to him is inspired by motives purely selfish, personal ambitions and a reckless disregard of party welfare. Because in the unqualified support of the President he is the sole hope cf victory for the party and the continuance of those Republican policies necessary to our common prosperity and we believe the rank and file of the party will again support him for the Presidency and rebuke the factional leaders who are attempting to cripple his administration and defeat him and the party. We oppose the re-nomination of Governor Stubbs because his administration has been wasteful and extravagant beyond anything ever known in Kansas, vastly increasing the public burdens without any corresponding benefits to those who bear them.

Because he regards the office of Governor and his patronage as personal assets to be used for his own political ambitions and places personal loyalty above fitness and abject servility to himself above public and party service. Because by present rewards and fa-tare promises he has built up the most powerful and exclusive political machine this state has ever known a machine that arrogates to itself the distribution of all public offices, the rewards of all party service and seeks to drive from the party rank3 every man who refuses to bow to hia wilL GEO. He will build no machine, run for no other office and have no ambition but to serve the people of Kansas. He will replace waste with thrift, extravagance with economy, intolerance and prescription with friendship and recognition for every Republican. He will represent the rank and file of the party and strive to heal rather than widen, factional differences. He brings to the taak' great ability, unquestioned honesty, the energy of youth and the experience of manhood. Under his leadership success is certain and a new era of tolerance, harmony and united effort assured.

We appeal to the Republican voters of Kansas who commend the decrease of national expenditures to condemn the unnecessary Increase of state expenditures, by uniting to secure the nomination of Thomas E. Wagstaff as Republican candidate for Governor of Kansas. J. W. Butler, -drainfield, Kansas.
