MONDAY, FEB. 5, 1951 THE EVENING INDEPENDENT, MASSILLON. OHIO SEVEN Exchange Nuptial Vows Before St. John's Altar Miss Donna Hixenbaugh, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

Harry Hixenbaugh of 723 Main ave chose a lovely spring suit of grey wool with white accessories for her marriage Sunday afternoon to Ernest Gamary, son of John Gamary, of 1123 Niles ave SW, which was solemnized in an impressive candlelight ceremony in St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church. Dr. Otto R. Gerber performed the double ring ceremony at 2:30 o'clock before the altar beautifully decorated with two large vases of white carnations, snapdragons and stocks and banked with palms.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride accented her ensemble with a white nylon blouse with tiny rhinestone buttons, white glove and an attractive off-the-face white straw- hat trimmed with flowers She wore rhinestone earrings, gift of the groom, and carried a whit Bible brought by a friend from Notre Dame, Paris, France, topped with an arrangement of stephanotis, white lace and rope satin hearts centered with a beautiful white orchid, a delicate lace hankie and the pearls worn by her mother and sister, Jean, on their respective Miss Marjorie Fisher of Moffitt Heights attended the bride as maid of honor and was attired in a spring suit of aqua gabardine with a white blouse and cocoa brown accessories. Her colonial bouquet was formed of pink carnations and yellow daffodils, tied with a shower of contrasting ribbon and lover's knots. MR. GAMARY and his Dick Hixenbaugh, twin brother of the bride, served as Mr.

Gamary's best man and ushers were Ciarence Fenton of Massillon and Irwin Gibbons of Brewster. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Hixenbaugh wore a pearl gray suit of gabardine with accents of green and a small grey hat. She complemented her costume with a purple orchid. The Moose home was beautiful ly decorated throughout with bouquets of white flowers and greens for the reception which immediately followed the ceremony for 150 guests.

Presiding-at the attractively appointed bridal table, centered TWh a five-tiered wedding cake, flowers and ferns, were Mrs. John Richmond and Mrs. Ray Reem snyder. Miss Margaret Gamarj kept the guest book. Many beauti ful wedding gifts were on display bride return from a honeymoon trip of undisclosed destination, they will reside with Mrs.

Gamary's parents. For travel the bride wore white wool topper over her suit, and the orchid from her bouquet. The former Miss HixenbaugHnvas graduated from Washington high school with the class of '48 and is presently employed as an assistant Dr. W. A.

Barton. Mr. Gamary was graduated from Washington high school and is an employe of the Massillon Aluminum Co. The bride presented her honor attendant with a lovely personalized compact. An initialed cuff link and tie clasp set and a tie were given by Mr.

Gamary to his best man and gifts of initialed cuff links and tie clasps to the ushers. Churches Prepare For Observance Of Lent Special rites in preparation of the Lenten season were held in many Massillon churches Sunday. These included the celebration of the Lord's Supper, baptism and reception of new members. Lent begins Ash Wednesday, Feb. 7, concluding on Easter Sunday, March 25.

Many Protestant congregations have planned a series of Lenten services each Wednesday night during the season. A series of church family nights is planned for Central Presbyterian church on Wednesdays during Lent. A covered dish supper will be served at 6 with the program following. Bring tab'e service and a covered dish for the dinner. The Dorcas and Naomi circles will provide coffee, cream, rolls and butter.

The program will conclude at 8:15, The program will be of interest to the whole family. FAMILY nights will also be inaugurated at First Methodist church beginning Wednesday evening. The covered dish supper will be served at 6:15. Mrs. Harold Bantz and her committee of the WSCS will be in charge.

Wilson MacDonald, the poet laureate of Canada will be featured in the program. His lectures and recitals are said to be intensely interesting and appealing. He is Canada's greatest living poet and president of the Poetry society He left a home of wealth and scrubbed a bar-room floor for meals 7:30. The Rev. E.

W. Guinther of Bolivar will deliver the sermon at the Grace Evangelical and Reformed church Ash Wednesday evening at 7:30, when the Lenten series of services will be inaugurated. The Gears class will be in charge. Guest pastors will occupy the pulpits on Wednesday evenings during the six weeks period. The Rev.

Mr. Kosower will speak on Feb. 14. Next Sunday Lenten communion will be held. Faith Lutheran church will hold Lenten services on Wednesday eve- Receive 100 Friends At Open House Mr.

Knights To Hold Special Meeting A SPECIAL meeting of Massil- lion Council No. 554, Knights of Columbus will be held Tuesday evening at 7:45 in the club rooms over the Lincoln theater. This meeting is called for the purpose of making arrangements for the conferring of the first degree on a large class of candidates. This group will be known as the Golden Jubilee class.

Members are urged to be pre sent and those having application. for memberships are urged to turn them in. Conferring of the first degree will be held at the next regular council meeting Tuesday evening Feb. 13, at 8:15, in the local clul rooms by Canton council degre team. Candidates will be notifie by mail.

Siveetheart Frolic At Shady Hollow Despite the weather conditions over 100 persons attended the annual "Sweetheart Frolic" sponsored by Delta Theta Tau sorority, Saturday evening, Feb. 3, at Shady Hollow country club.
