Adams and Helen Belle Shields. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucille; and three children, Tom Adams and wife, Pat of Missoula, Montana, John A. Adams III of Albany, Georgia, and devoted daughter, Lucille Adams Dillon, and John Dillon of Taos, NM. He is survived by two brothers, Paul Adams of Jemez Springs, and Fred Adams of Albuquerque. Additional survivors include two grandchildren, Chris Adams and wife, Korina, Kathy Adams, their mother, Frocene; and three great-grandchildren, Sloane, Mackenzie, and Debra Schock and son.

John spent his career as a civil engineer with 39 years of service in the U.S. Forest Service. He was a lifetime conservationist. He was a lifetime member of the Jemez Community. Presbyterian Church, Jemez Springs, NM, which was founded by his grandfather, Rev.

John M. Shields. He was an American Society of Civil Engineers, awarded Fellow and Lifetime Member of Elks Lodge He also served in the Army Corps of Engineers and the Army Reserve. A Memorial Service will be held at the Presbyterian Church in Jemez Springs, NM on Saturday, September 1, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Presbyterian Church in Jemez Springs.

Ballard, and his wife, Bebe of Selma AL and Richard Ballard of Livermore CA and nephews Perry Ballard, Kelly and Kevin White. A resident of Albuquerque since 1949, Doug was born in Selma, Alabama.

While attending engineering school at Auburn University, his ROTC unit was called into combat engineering service in March 1943 where he was selected for specialized training at City College of NY and then assigned in 1944 to the US Army Special Engineering Detachment for the Manhattan. A-Bomb Project at Oak- Ridge where he served as a process engineer at the Y-12 Plant where he met his future wife, Patsye Bailey. Transferred in 1945 to the Special Engineering Detachment Unit at Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, he served as a supervisor of plutonium metallurgy. Doug and Pat were married following his discharge from the service in 1946. They established residence at Los Alamos to work until 1948.

He obtained BS and MS degrees in Mechanical Engineering at UNM. From 1950 until his retirement in 1983, he worked in a variety of engineering and supervisory assignments at Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque. Doug served on national and international committees and as National President of the American Society for Nondestructive Testing. He was also a Past-President of the Sandia Lab Federal Credit Union and was active for many years in Sombra Del Monte Christian Church and the Rotary Club of Albuquerque. Doug started painting late in his life and developed a strong following as a Southwestern Watercolorist whose work is widely held in private and corporate collections.

With fellow artist and wife of 56 years, Doug and Pat shared their love of people, art and life together. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service is planned for Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Sombra del Monte Christian Church, 2528 Utah NE. Immediately following the service the family will receive friends at the family home. He was a former resident of Albuquerque; however, he resided in Los Lunas. Louis especially loved winters because it allowed him to build fires in his wood stoves and go snowmobiling. He also enjoyed the mountains and building homes for his company, He was preceded in death by his parents; Joseph and Katie Bernauer; his brother; and his sister. Louis is survived by his children; Joe of Carlsbad, Karen Galan and her husband, Adrian of Hawaii, Steve and his wife, Karen of Los Lunas, Kathy Mustain and her husband, James of Lawton, OK, and Louie and his wife, Corina of Rio Rancho; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; his dear friend and companion; Theresa R. Martinez of Sacramento, CA; two sisters, Sister Barbara of Muenster, TX, Evelyn Nachtman and her husband, Bernard of Boynton Beach, Florida; and one brother, Frank of Muenster, TX.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, 5:30 p.m. in the Romero Funeral Home Chapel with a Rosary following at 6:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will take place in the Jemez Mountains on Highway 126, between mile marker 13 14, Tuesday, September 4, 2001 at 12:00 p.m. Romero Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. BIAVA- -Deborah Pratt Biava, 52, a life long resident of New Mexico, left this world on August 29,2001 following a brief and sudden illness.

Deborah was preceded. in death by her parents, Eleanor and Phil Pratt. She has left behind her husband, B.J. Deborah was raised in Santa Fe, traveled and lived in the Pacific Northwest and San Francisco, then settled back in the New Mexico that she loved near most of her family and friends. Deborah played an integral part of her family business, Assaigai Analytical Laboratories, yet touched many hearts with her true love of nursing at Lovelace Hospice and oncology at the University of New Mexico where she was employed. Deborah had an enduring love for life, children, and animals and saw true beauty in each and every creature, each and every day! She was an angel to all she met and truly never knew a stranger. -Evangelina Rita (Eva) Konitzer, was born April 20, 1933 in Estancia, New Mexico. On Thursday, August 30, 2001, Eva died peacefully in the family home during a valiant battle with cancer. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving wife and dedicated mother. Her energy and compassion of giving to those less fortunate around the world will leave an indelible mark in many people she gave to unselfishly. Eva was preceded in death by her son, Francis Konitzer and daughters, Cecilia Konitzer-Sanchez, and Monica Konitzer.

She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, John her children, John Konitzer III, Kathleen Konitzer-Armijo, Richard Konitzer and wife Janice Deluna-Konitzer; and daughter Rita KonitzerHelak and fiance, Felipe Rivera; her seven grandchildren: Michael, Patrick, Nicholas, Jacqueline, Jesse, Deanna and Dianna who truly were her "pride and her brother, Flavio Sanchez; sister, Carmen Alderete and husband, Joe; beloved friends, Doctors Arthur and Ann Weinstein. Eva was a dedicated, devoted registered nurse for 40 years. She touched many lives all over the world through her never ending acts of healing and giving to the many individuals with which she came in contact with. Internment for Eva will be a private family ceremony. LOVATO- Librado Lovato 83, of Albuquerque, died Wednesday, August 29, 2001. Donaciano is preceded in death by his son, Joseph Alfred Lovato. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Fabiola Francis Lovato; daughter, Elizabeth King; sons, Don Lovato Peter Lovato and Joseph Anthony Lovato; and three generations of grandchildren. Donaciano was a member of the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, a WWII Veteran and local trucker.

A Rosary for Donaciano will be recited on Wednesday evening, September 5, at 6:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald and Son's Chapel, 3113 Carlisle N.E. Mass will be celebrated the following day on Thursday morning at 10.00 a.m. at Queen of Heaven Church. Burial Services at the Santa Fe National Cemetery will be announced at a later date.

She graduated from Albuquerque High School with the class of 1942. She is survived by her granddaughter, Carol. Towner Overacker and husband, Ron; and three great-grandchildren of Lakeside, CA; brother, Earl Carr and wife, Virginia of Albuquerque; nephew, David Carr and family of Santa Fe; niece, Jo Ann James and family of College Station, TX; former husband, Everett G. Triplett of Ohio; and many cousins in New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma and California. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.

L. Lynch; daughter, Sharon Triplett Towner, parents, and niece, Mary Claire Cart. While living in Albuquerque, Beverly was a salesperson at several jewelry stores, a member of the Baptist Church, ESA Sorority, a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House, the American Cancer Society and Manzano Del Sol Good Samaritan Village. Services are pending at the Lakeside Santee Funeral Chapel in Lakeside, CA. Private committal service of cremains will take place at the Chester T.

His pole speed is the fastest by an IRL car outside of the Indianapolis 500 since the circuit introduced its 3.5-liter engine rules at the start of the 2000 season. It's also the second pole of the season for Lazier, who won the qualifying at Richmond in late June while driving for Sam Schmidt Motorsports.

"It was very obvious to anyone who wanted to watch that Jaques had a lot of talent and he was probably not in the equipment that may have showcased that talent as well as it could be," said Menard, who hired Lazier away from Schmidt to replace 1999 IRL points champion Greg Ray. "The team's happy with Jaques and he's happy with the team." Edwin Catholic Church, 2105 Barcelona SW, with a Rosary to be recited at 3:00 p.m. by Deacon J.0. Luna. Final visitation will be Monday, morning from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:00 noon by Father Bill Sanchez in the Church.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Johnny Moya Louis Moya, Antoinette Moya, Leon Moya, Ambrosio Barela and Jessica Barela. OWEN James David "Dave" Owen, 74, a resident of Albuquerque, passed away Friday, August 31, 2001 at the Sandia Hospice Pavilion. Dave is survived by his wife, Virginia Lee Owen of Albuquerque; sister, Lenora Garling of Memphis, TN; sons, Dan Owen and wife, Sarah of Roswell, NM and Randy Owen and wife, Susan of New Albany, MS; granddaughters, Mandy and Crystal of Albuquerque, Megan of Roswell and Monica of. passed away Friday, August 31, 2001 at his home in Midland, TX. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 4, 2001 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel in Roswell, N.M. The Reverand Bobby Renfro, pastor of First Baptist Church will officiate. Art was born October 19, 1916 in Mt. Calm in Hill County, Texas to Annie and Jeffries W.

Ray, both of whom have preceded him in death. On August 14, 1934, Art married Nellie Elena Myers. They were married 62 years, until she passed away in 1996. Art managed a number of lumber yards in New Mexico and Texas. He worked for Sears Department Store in Roswell until his retirement in the early 1980s.

He also worked on antique clocks for over 40 years. He is survived by two sons, Gene Ray and his wife, Frances, of Albuquerque, Ronnie Ray and his wife, Shirley, of Midland; one daughter, Patsy Carpenter and her husband, Ray, of Albuquerque; five sisters, Nell Henley, Marie Houchin and Lilly Miller, all of Lubbock, and Betty Lewis of Lake Grandbury, and Venita Lewis of Denton, TX; one brother, Dale Ray of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. is preceded in death by his wife, Nell; his parents, Annie and Jeffries three brothers, Joe, Coleman and Rubin Ray; and one grandchild, Tanra Charmaine Cullins. Rinehart, 93, died on August 22, 2001. Wil is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Alice; son-in-law, Farrell'(Sherry) Perdreauville; and granddaughter, Amy. (Spencer) Eason; and grandson, Joseph (Amy) Perdreauville. Wil spent much of his life in Albuquerque managing motels and was. highly involved in several local lodges including the Knight Masons, the Shiners, Zia Daylight Lodge and the Knight Templar.

Rushing, 81, died Friday, August 31, 2001. She was born in Embudo, New Mexico on September 27, 1919. Margaret was the sixth of ten children and was a life long resident of New Mexico.

DRIVER HOSPITALIZED: In Darlington, S.C., Steve Park was cut out of his car and airlifted to the hospital after a wreck under caution in the South Carolina 200. Jeff Burton won the Busch Series race by holding off Elton Sawyer over the final 10 laps.

Park was being held overnight at Carolina's Hospital System in Florence. He suffered a concussion and might have broken his collarbone in an accident under the yellow flag. Park's car was running at approximately 45 mph behind the pace car on the backstretch when it veered suddenly to the left just after exiting Turn 2. Park's car cut directly. in front of Larry Foyt, who was accelerating to move up to the head of the line of lapped cars on the inside lane for the restart.

Foyt's car hit Park's just behind the driver's-side door, sending it spinning into the inside wall. Park, who drives a Winston Cup was an avid member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saints Church and Disabled American Veterans. She is survived by her children, D. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, DeForest Rushing and one child, Richard Everett Rushing. James Sherman of London, N. Jennifer Rosenberg of Boston, and Sarah E. Rosenberg of San Diego. He graduated from Northeastern University in Boston in 1939 with degrees in both mechanical and electrical engineering. In 1940, he married Dorothy E.

Sherman and raised his family in both Taunton, MA and RI. He worked for GeneralElectric during World War Il and later for Gorham Silver and Texas Instruments where he designed and built nuclear cores for Oak Ridge Laboratory and nuclear submarines. He was an avid outdoors man enjoying hiking, biking, camping and fishing. Following his retirement he traveled extensively in this country. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

SMITH -Minor A. "Scoop" Smith died from injuries suffered in a plane crash in Raton, NM Friday, August 24, 2001. Scoop was born November 30, 1939 in Texarkana, AR. He graduated from Western Military Academy and Vanderbilt University. He then served in the United States Army.
