Pie-historic man in America by Major John W. Powell being in our opinion exceptionally good. There is scarcely a thing a woman cannot do with a hair pin. They use it to pick their teeth, button their shoes, clean their finger nails, punch out of cracks, fasten up stray bangs, clean out the stem of their husband's pipe, scratch their heads, trim lamp wicks, run it into cake to see if it is sufficiently done, and about a million other things the poor deluded nan knows nothing about, and they do it all with the Bame hairpin too. There has been quite an argument among several of the boys as to whether ex-president Andrew Johnson was impeached or not Many do not understand the meaning or significance of the word impeached. To impeach is to accuse. An impeacher is an accuser, or one who prefers charges and imperched means literally accused, it does not necessarily follow that the accused must be found guilty of treason or other crime. He was impeached when accused. 'Tis said that an ex-confederate soldier sent five dollars to Gen.

Beauragard and told him to send in return a winning ticket in the Louisiana lottery, saying that he had been a faithful soldier of the lost cause, and that he cajae out of the army with hardly clothes enough to cover his nakedness. The general is said to have replied. "My dear comrade, I send yon a ticket; I also offer you this advice: If yon stick to the Louisiana lottery as faithfully as you did to the southern confederacy, you will not have clothes enough to wad a shot gun." County Clerk Borah our Dell peacefully passed away from single cussedness to double blessedness, hst Suuday eve at Wa-Keeney, after a short attack of la grippe, complicated by the attractions of one of Grinnell's most accomplished young ladies, Miss Nara Jones. He leaves a wide circle of batchelor friends to mourn his desertion, headed by Dr.
