Prison Is 'Cupid Club' Lansing, (P)-State's Attorney General John R. Dethmers charged Tuesday that prison of Southern at Jackson was a "veritable cupia club for lovelorn inmates." He charged further that a ring of "big-shot" convicts had wide control, institution inside the was prison torn with and that dissension, maladministration and corruption. Dethmers made the charges in the first of four reports he said he would make this week on the results of an investigation of the prison. Dethmers said the evidence showed "the existence of a ring exercising serious and improper control in the prison He asserted that members of the ring or inmates favored by members were able to secure favorable assignments and details outside prison walls. He charged that women were imported into the prison or into prison officials' quarters for the "solace" of big-shot criminals.
