Haller AwardedGrant For Research Dr. William T. Haller, Professor Emeritus of Barnard College has recently been awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship for his work on the nature and methods of Protestant propaganda in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I and its effects on the English national spirit. Doctor Haller and 274 artists and scholars will be assisted by this fund in studies in the sciences and liberal arts. Grants are made to persons demonstrating "the highest capacity for original scholarly research and artistic creation." The fund was established in 1925 by the late Senator Simon Guggenheim of Colorado and his wife in memory of their son, who died in 1922.

Awards are made to citizens of all the American republics, the Philippines, Canada and the British Caribbean area. BC Barnacles The swimming committee has now transformed itself into a club, the Barnard Barnacles. Membership tryouts will be held this Wednesday at five, and Thursday at four. The testing, open to all, covers the basic strokes both for the Barnacles and the Junior Barnacles. Among the other activities of the club will be a trip on May 12 to Phialdelphia, where the Barnacles will perform.
