Trial of Everett Beck, Washington, charged with conspiracy In the crime of arson is being held in the Pike circuit court. The jury was impanelled late Tuesday and the examination of witnesses started today. The case was sent here from Daviess ccun ty. Beck was indicted with Harry Billings and Joe Groves, also charged with arson. The three men were accused of conspiring to burn a house in Washington, belonging to Beck on which $3,000 insurance was carried.

Groves and Billings were both found guilty. Groves was sentenced to the Indiana Reformatory and Billings was sentenced to the Indiana State Prison. Groves is here and will testify for the state, while Billings was brought here from Michigan City to testify in behalf of the defense. Charles Lawyer, of the Indiana Reformatory, has also been summoned to testify in behalf of the defense. This is Beck second trial, one Jury failing to agree.
