And one program currently airing, "One Day At A Time" (weekdays at 6:30 p.m.), is already under scrutiny for whether it meets the family programming concept.

"Some people have called In to say, don't call that family entertainment'," Buschman says. The 1975-84 show deals with such controversial topics as drug use. divorce, non-marital sex and other contemporary Issues. The show "would be on the extreme" of the family format definition, Buschman acknowledges. At the moment, each episode of the popular sitcom Is being weighed for its appropriateness.

A segment dealing with abortion, for example, will not be aired. Other shows Buschman cited as unlikely to ever appear on Channel 24 would be "Miami Vice" and even the dance program "Solid Gold," the latter because of "the sexual content of the dancing." But current shows such as "The Cosby Show" and "Family Ties" would be "the kind of thing we'd go for when they go Into syndication." Coming next fall on weekday afternoons, for instance, will be "The Wonderful World of Disney." The station has purchased 178 segments of the popular old Sunday night fixture, as well as 25 Disney movies, including such classics as "Dumbo" and "Mary Poppins" and the newer Disney production Tron." for barely two months, and Busch-', man says "we're doing pretty good," although he cannot provide exact ratings because the station has not yet subscribed to any ratings services.
