Cronin was a state senator from 1939 to 1947, after serving several years in the House of Delegates. While in the Senate, he was elected president of the Young Democrats of Maryland. A charter member and former president of the Aberdeen Lions Club, he was a life member of Blenheim Lodge of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and a member of the Aberdeen Moose lodge. He was a former chairman of the county's Community Chest-Red Cross United Appeal, and was active in the Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce and the Aberdeen post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr.

Cronin married Mary S. Fer-rell, who later served on the state Board of Education for a number of years and was state campaign chairman for the March of Dimes for about 20 years. She died in 1972. Services for Mr. Cronin will be held at 11 a.m.

tomorrow at Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen. He is survived by two daughters, Mary C. Wolfe, of Great Falls, and Anne L. Keith, of Vienna, a son, William R. Cronin, of Aberdeen; four brothers, G.

Harold Cronin, of Fairfax, C. Courtney Cronin, of Bel Air, and Richard F. Cronin and N. Paul Cronin, both of Aberdeen; three sisters, Margaret C. Umberger, of Bel Air, Virginia Barrows, of Hyattsville, and A.

Elizabeth Prevas, of Aberdeen; eight grandchildren, and six J. Wilmer Cronin, a former state delegate and state senator, and owner and publisher of The Harford Democrat newspaper in Aberdeen for more than 60 years, died Wednesday at Harford Memorial Hospital after a short illness. He was 86. A lawyer who decided while still in his teens that he wanted to pursue multiple careers, Mr. Cronin was an Aberdeen town commissioner and counsel to the town board of commissioners for 20 years.

He also served a record term as counsel to the old Board of County Commissioners. He was the county planning commission's attorney for 15 years. Active in his law practice, the newspaper business and county politics until his last illness, Mr. Cronin was a key member of Harford's Democratic State Central Committee for more than a half-century. He was chairman of the committee in the mid-1980s while serving in the state House of Delegates and was named co-chairman one of several times he held that title only four years ago in a compromise between newer members of the committee and the old-guard powers that dominated party politics in the county for decades.

In 1980, members of the County Council named him the first winner of its "Living Treasure of Harford County" award. Mr. Cronin, a native of Aberdeen who lived there all his life, was the sole member of the first graduating class at Aberdeen High School. He received a scholarship to Charlotte Hall Military Academy, where he became in Florida Services for Margaret N. a Baltimore native who had lived in Hampden for most of her life, were held Saturday in Holiday, Fla.

Mrs. Perkins, who moved to Holiday in about 1975, died of a heart attack last Friday. She was 61. The former Margaret Stout grew up in Hampden and was a graduate of Western High School. She was married to Thomas Perkins in about 1936, and the couple made their home in Hampden, living first on Conduit avenue and then foci about 20 years in the 3600 block Elm avenue.

Mr. and Mrs. Perkins later lived on Dolores avenue in the Arbutus area for about eight years before moving to Florida. Mrs. Perkins worked as a bookkeeper in Baltimore for a number of years, first at Johns Hopkins Hospital and later at the Leidy Chemicals Corporation on Eutaw street.

Her husband worked for the Hires Bottling Company in Baltimore for many years. Besides her husband, Mrs. Perkins is survived by two sons, Robert Perkins, of Savage, and Thomas Perkins', of Baltimore county; a daughter, Patricia Orlove, of Manchester; a sister, Gordia Donaldson, of Towson; two grandchildren, and a YOUR DREAM POOL COME TRUE! Taking his first job at the First National Bank of Aberdeen, he worked each day while attending night classes at the University of Maryland law school in Baltimore. He earned his law degree in 1919. He was admitted to the state bar earlier that year, although he still had part of a semester to go in his law studies. Also in 1919, he and a partner obtained a loan to buy The Harford Democrat. A few years later, Mr.
