And in this case the prime beholders happened to be a couple of NBC-TV's affiliate station managers from Mis-sissippi and Texas who beefed to network brass about what they called "blue" material on the Dean Martin Show. Maybe they've never seen Buddy Hackett? So network brass promised this would be corrected and called Greg Garrison. Garrison Is that darkly handsome and with-it young dynamo from suburban Lib-ertyville who is not only the producer-director-partner on the show, but he's also Dean Martin's stand-in, alter ego, spokesman, and say-so guy.

Anything be says goes, with Dino. And furthermore, every word Martin reads from those Idiot cards euphemistically called cut twinkle in bis eye for a leer so it becomes a leering' show. The problem is that these nervous network people get a little more nervous when some of their affiliate station managers complain. They have to do something to pacify So what is Greg Garrison going to do to pacify the "nervous network people" as the show raters its eighth season? He's going to change its format rather drastically, that's what Clean it up? Well he really never thought of it as a "dirty" show. The perennial, pixyish 'Peck's 3ad Boy' of television, he of the twinkle in the eye and the frolic, some Don Juan-ish charisma, has suddenly become a leering "dirty old man" playing around with those scantily clad Ding-a-Ling girls in a so-called "sex oriented" show, if we are to believe the word of NBC-TV censors, who recently announced that the show is cards has crossed Greg Garrison's desk, and been okayed 'S Htj employs different teams of writers, but it's Greg's responsibility to function, as "story editor," so to speak, on top of everything else he does on all the skits In die show and it's therefore solely his responsibility when Dean is accused of using too much or too many "off-color jokes, sick humor, and sex" on his shows. 7 Frankly, he thinks the charges are excessive.

"Sure, we fa a at some harmless, double-entendre jokes now and then. But certainly not sick humor. Compared to standards in other entertainment especially movies and nightclubs, our show is about as bawdy as a church choir.
