trite 12 Section 2A CHICAGO TRIBUNE, THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1970 Alexander M. Thompson Memorial services for Alexander N. Thompson, 80, former board chairman of the Mississippi Valley Barge Line of St. Louis, will be held at 1 p. m.

today in the chapel at 1567 Maple Evanston. Mr. Thompson, who lived on a farm near Gurnee, died Tuesday in Evanston hospital. Surviving Mr. Thompson are his widow, the former Louise Easton; two sons, Alexander M.

Jr. and Frederick 10 grandchil-221 dren; and two great-grandchildren. Elmer C. Grossman Services for Capt. Elmer C.

Grossman, 66, of 4946 S. Lotus Stickney township, founder and member of the Central Stickney township fire district, will be held at 10 a. m. Saturday in the chapel at Archer and Lorel avenues. Capt.

Grossman died Tuesday in the home of a neighbor. He is survived by his widow, Henrietta; a daughter, Mrs. Joan Londeau; a son, Robert; four grandchildren; a brother; and two sisters. Mrs. Louis Dandurand Mass for Mrs.

Mary, Dandurand, 59, of 213 15th Chicago 1 Heights, will be said at 10 a. m. tomorrow in St. Agnes Catholic church, Chicago Heights. Mrs.

Dandurand died Tuesday in St. James hospital, Chicago Heights. Her husband, Louis, is president of the American Savings bank, South Chicago Heights, and her son, James, is president of the Bank of Indiana, Gary. Also surviving are four grandchildren and two brothers. James J.

Derks Mass for James J. Derks, 50, of 422 Tamarack Wauconda, will be said at 11 a. m. tomorrow in Transfiguration Catholic church, Wauconda Mr. Derks, who collapsed and died Tuesday in his home, was self-employed architectural delineator in Chicago.

Surviving are his widow, Linda; two daughters, Pamela and Amy; his mother, Mrs. Mary Reutz Derks; three brothers; and a sister. Robert E. Rosenblate Services for Robert E. Rosenblate, 36, will be held at 1 p.m.

today in the chapel at 5206 Broadway. Mr. Rosenblate, who was a native Chicagoan, died Tuesday in Las Vegas where he was controler for Frontier Fidelity Savings and Loan association. Survivors include his widow, Frances Ann; two sons, 1 Louis and Joseph; a daughter, Lisa Marie; and a brother. Mrs.

Lena Sklar OBITUARIES Mrs. Lena Sklar, 82, of 4936 N. Kedzie widow of Ben Sklar, a furrier, died yesterday in Swedish Covenant hospital. Surviving are four sons by former marriages, Sol, and Louis, Lt. Mac Turner, Manny Horowitz; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters.

VICTIM'S KIN ASK MILLION IN AIR CRASH Damages of one million dollars were asked in a suit filed yesterday in Circuit court in behalf of the estate of Herbert A. Herrmann, an office manager with the stock brokerage firm of E. F.

Hutton who was killed in a plane crash. Herrmann, 41, of 267 Woodland Biltmore, in unincorporated Lake county, and seven others died last Jan. 22 in the crash of a Rocky Mountain Airways plane near Aspen, Colo. He left his widow, Carol, and three minor children. Defendants are the air line and six others.

RITES PLANNED FOR SATURDAY Established Essaness Theater Chain Private services for Edwin Silverman, 72, whose career in the movie industry spanned 56 years, will be held Saturday in Rosehill cemetery, 5800 Ravenswood av.

Mr. Silverman, president of the Essaness Theater corporation, a Chicago based movie theater chain with offices at 54 W. Randolph died Tuesday in Weiss Memorial hospital. He had residences at 5490 South Shore and in Palm Springs, Cal. Begins as Poster Clerk His career in the movie industry began when he was 16 years old and worked as a poster clerk for Warner Brothers and later became general sales manager.

In 1929, Mr. Silverman established the Essaness circuit, which at one time included 33 theaters in the Chicagoland area. He was a founder of WSNSTV, channel 44, which is scheduled to go on the air April 5. Variety Club Member He was active in the Variety club of Chicago for more than 25 years. Mr.

Silverman also was a member of the Standard club. He leaves two sons, Jack and Alan, both executives in the Essaness corporation, and a daughter, Susan. CAVE-IN KILLS 3 WORKMEN IN PITTSBURGH Pittsburgh, Feb 11 (UPD A concrete wall collapsed in a 15- foot-deep ditch at a water filtration plant in suburban Aspinwall today, killing at least three men and injuring six. Some of the workmen were trapped under slabs of concrete, dirt, and debris for nearly two hours. About 30 police and firemen dug thru the rubble with picks.

and shovels to free them. The three dead were identified as James Casey, 54, of the city's East Liberty section; Albert Cunningham, 39, of Freeport, and George N. Crain, 45, of Clairton, Pa. The wall which collapsed was part of the original filtration plant along the Allegheny river. The workmen were digging a 30-footwide ditch alongside of the wall to lay a pipe line to serve a larger plant.

VOIDS CHARGES AGAINST WIFE IN GI's DEATH SAN JUAN, P.R., Feb. 11 (UPD First defree murder charges against Carolyne 01- iver Wilkins were dismissed here today by federal District Judge Hiram R. Cancio at the request of the prosecution. The Newark, 0., mother of six was to go on trial for the second time Feb. 16 for allegedly stabbing to death her husband, army Sgt.

Wesley Wilkins on Nov. 19, 1966. The first trial which ran from Feb. 16 thru March 22, 1968, resulted in a hung jury. Because the alleged crime took place on a military base here, the case came under federal jurisdiction and carried an automatic death penalty.

Mrs. Wilkins, 34, was the first person federal ever court to here stand on trial a in first- a degree murder charge. Puerto Rico has had no death penalty since 1926. L. S.

U. Student Leader Found Shot to Death Baton Rouge, Feb. 11 (UPD Arthur Ensminger, 26, student bod president of Louisiana State university today was found dead of a possible Russian roulette style self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head. A coroner said he could not determine whether Ensminger accidentally shot himself or whether he committed suicide.
