PEOPLE AND PARTIES Ladies' Night Celebrated by kEB Rotarians at Barbecue AL ROBBINS was chosen as East Bakersfield Rotory Club's first 'outstanding Rotarian' and was surprised at Wednesday night's barbecue and installation by the presentation of a framed certificate. In the accompanying remarks, made by Harry Blair, the recipient was credited with service to his community, his fellowmen and his club. Names of each member so honored will, be engraved on a permanent plaque. The party was held in the new patio at the Malcolm Little home on Mt. Ranier Stockdale, where 66 members and their wives shared ladies' night.

Al Robbins, entertinment chairman, introduced -Ronnie Sells, panto mimist and Carl Beck, juggler and trampoline acrobat, in an hour's program. Dick Griffith, installing officer, seated Earl E. Beck as president, James W. Huber, vice president, Fred Smith, treasurer, and Sy H. Wade, secretary.

THE GAY SPOTS in San Fran Cisco will provide holiday fun for three local couples, Bunny and Steve Haberfelde, Linda and George Barnett and Ross and Jo Ann Mortenson, who have made tentative plans to spend the Fourth of July week end there. A BARBECUE in the garden of the John Swetts, 2000 Bradford honored John's nephew, Kenneth Swett of San Fernando, who left this week for service with U.S. Air Force in Japan. Besides the host and hostess, the young airman and his mother, Mrs. Genevieve Swett, the guests included the Messrs.

Louis R. Deadrich, 2908 La Cresta Dr. The Deadrichs spent several days with their son recently while on a three-week vacation trip through the South. They flew to Miami, first, for a Kiwanis convention, and then journeyed to Montgomery, where they were joined by Lt. Deadrich.

The younger Deadrich was traveling from Greenville, S.C., to his new post in San Marcus. From Montgomery the family motored to Texas, stopping in New Orleans for a two-day sightseeing tour. While in Texas, they visited Johnson City, birthplace of the senior Deadrich. Lt. Deadrich is expected home in August, when he and his father will spend several days in the Sierras on a fishing trip.

Miss Burgess was graduated from Bakersfield High School on June 4. Her fiance was graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 1953. The couple plans a summer wedding. MR. AND MRS.

EMILE T. Aubin, 208 Lincoln are leaving for Las Vegas this weekend for a week's vacation. "I don't know exactly what having never been there," said Mrs. Aubin, "but we hope to see as many new things as possible." VISITING RECENTLY at the home of Mr. and Mrs.

William Buerkle, 2437 Beech was Buerkle's aunt, Dr. Frances Tyson. Dr. Tyson, at 80, is still practicing medicine in Leonia N.J. She is now visiting relatives in other parts of California.

Continued on Page 22 180 Enrolled for Season at Camp Kaweah Lee Adams, executive director of Girl Scouts, will be the director of the organization 's Camp Kaweah, which opens a three-day pre-camp training program for its staff June 27. Of the 180 girls who will attend, 60 will arrive July Mrs. Dustin Jameson has been working on the hiring of a staff since March. Miss Adams has been a director for 10 years in Girl camps of St. Louis, Colorado Springs and Madison, as well as for two summers at Camp kaweah.

She was supervisor of Girl Scout camping in Region 7, composed of Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Indiana, an area that contains a fifth of all Girl Scout camps in the United States. The camp's nurse, a Girl Scout leader who is a registered nurse, is Mrs. C. H. as Skipper to the campers, she is called the ruler of the "Pill Box." Dr.

John Forney will be on call all summer. He also briefs the camp nurse before she goes up. The cooks, "Goodie" and "Yummie," and the unit leaders, who are the "mothers" of "the camp, are other important personnel. Unit leaders include Mrs. Paul DeBaugh, Kernville; Mrs.

Robert Johnston, Mrs. Sophie Lowenberg, and Mrs. Robert Ralston. Mrs. DeBaugh has done Girl Scout camping in Galesburg, 111.

She Is assigned to Frontier Forest Unit" for second and third sessions. Mrs. Johnston, a mother of three children and program chairman of Central Kern County Girl Scout Board, was a unit leader last year. She will be in charge of Frontier Forest, first session. Mrs.

Lowenberg who was- second session nurse last summer, and is Juliette Lowe friendship chairman on the program committee, takes over Shoshone Unit. Mrs. Ralston is one of the most experienced unit leaders. She has been at Camp Kaweah for three summers. Her unit is Skyland.

She teaches at the Bakersfield High School during the winter. Assistant Leaders Each unit has three assistant unit leaders who are young women either entering college or in college. They share their tal ents of singing, crafts, dramatics nature, dancing, star gazing, cooking, sports and games with the girls. Among them are Marcia Frank, Jackie Fisher, Pat Meredith, Marilyn Smellie, Linda Wilson, Joanne Compton, Alice Fulmer, Alice Hankins and Linda Turnipseed. Miss Frank, new camp counselor, received the American Legion Citizenship Award from East Bakersfield High School.

She likes sports and games, especially arphery. She is entering Santa Barbara University, majoring in business administration in the fall.
