Indian Unit Raps Chosa as a Fraud BY STEPHEN CREWS An American Indian group seeking to collect food for hungry people in Uptown denounced self-styled Indian leader Mike Chosa last night as a fraud. "He's gotten page after page of publicity, yet he's spokesman for only about 55 said Gene Bear Bow, president of Indians for Indians, a group Bear Bow said represents more than 500 persons i in the North Side community.

Tells of Drinking "He is painted as a leader, and gets written up for taking over Nikes bases, yet no one really knows what goes on with his group. No one knows about the drinking and about the 11- year -old girl we found smoking marijuana at one of, his camps," Bear Bow said. Bear Bow made his comments as he and representatives of several Indian and social organizations met to establish the Uptown Community Pantry, a free food distribution system for Uptown residents. Letters will be sent this week to major grocery chains and charitable groups to solicit food to supply a central depot at 901 W. Montrose Av.

Supplies from that depot then will be divided among participating organizations, such Indians for Indians and the American Indian Center, for feeding the hungry people the community. Participants Are Listed Participating in the planning session last night in the Indians for Indians office, 4606 N. Kenmore were representatives of the Uptown Welfare Rights Organization, the Bureau Indian Affairs, the Salvation of Army and others. All agreed that the job soliciting food was being made more difficult by the publicity garnered by Chosa. "Chosa has left heaps of food behind at every place he's stayed- -maybe we should him around with truck," said a man from the Salvation Army.

The man went on to promise cooperation from his organization for Pantry. Bear Bow said the Pantry coalition is seeking public donations of food or money buy food. 22 He mused somewhat angrily, San "I wonder if the press is interested in antics or real needs."
