she gets her degree- 5 chi dren and a By I "I really can't understand why today's collage students always seem so upset, depressed and pessimistic about their education," said Mrs. James Gearhart of Fremont, the mother of five young children -and recent recipient of a master's degree in history from San Jose State College, dose on the heels of (hat honor came the news, within the week she had been appointed to Fremont Unified School District board o( education. "Because I received my B.A. degree in 1947," spoke Mrs. Gcariiart, "I've often been accused of being part of that generation which went to college for (un.

Weil, actually, we lob, went to college for an education, but the difference is that we also knew how to have fun to corn- tine it with the process of formal learning. And what could be so wrong with that? Mrs. Gearhart, wife of Dr. James Gearhart and the mother of Jamie, 13, 'Andrew 11, 7, and identical twin daughters, Carolyn and Joan, 5, received her bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Douglas College in New Jersey. "After we had the three boys," she smiles, "we thought that was the end of our family and I decided to go back to class to work on my master's and be in closer association -with more adults and adult-type conversation.

And then, surprise! My husband and I found ourselves the parents of two more children, the twins!" 'And what do the children think about their mother's return to school? "Oh, they loved it," Mrs. Gearhart said. "At many times during the past three years, they boys would be studying the same area of history I would be covering at San Jose State. We 'Would compare notes on various historical characters events and it never ceased to amaze them when I'd come up wiUi a new angle they hadn't thought about. We got into a very heated discussion once when I bluntly said that Davy Crockett wasn't all that great!" The Gearharts moved to Fremont in 1958 and have been living at their Mill Creek Road address since I960.

One of their favorite family past- times, in addition to skiing, is for Mrs. Gearhart to lead the children in singing many of the very Early American songs. "The boys still play with the twin girls," Mrs. Gearhart mentioned, "mainly because we live so far from any other children their age. "Needless to say, they are a very close-knit group erf youngsters, and are always finding new and imaginative things to do together.

Right now, they are all working on the remodeling of our storage shed down near the creek. Then too, my husband is very active with his leadership of his Boy Scout troop, so that keeps the boys busy Mother and children will again be going back to school this fall, but this time Mrs. Gearhart will be in the capacity of a teacher. She will teach courses in the history of weslern civilization at Queen of the Holy Rosary College, a four year college for women of the Dominican Order. It is affiliated with Holy Names College in Oakland and eventually will be expanded to be an all girls college.

"I can't wait to begin (each- ing," Mrs. Gearhart smiled, "and it may have been said before, but for myself and my family, life really is just one bigtwwl of cherries!" feminine Jocus THE ARGUS Page 5 Friday, June 17, 1966 WHY GROW OLD? I 'would not consider a bikini with all the stretch marks I have but I do like the less extreme, ones. I have been told that when one is short waist- ed it is not wise to call attention to his fact.

A. This is true. The longer the distance between the and the bust the lovelier the figure. Since you are short waisted it is better to minimize that appearance. The division at midpoint of the body and the white strip of skin would tend to make you look shorter waisted and broader.

A one-piece form-fitting suit would be better.
