PAGE B8 THE SUN, BALTIMORE, MONDAY MORNING, MAY 1, 1967 Listen- Puiich-Line Expert MUKRAT ivith Donald Kirkley finished, I was surprised he did not thank Rosalie out tnere init wasteland for her spendid help. And when Aunt Jtosaue got up to go. she said, "Dennis, I want to "Britain'! mod maid," and try to find out what she thinks to thank you "For coming int your life? Vj I said. "I am trving to say I thank -i you for your hospitality-" "And the today, mey aont. make them like that any more." "We Dennis and jenny, I am truly grate-" "Great is right," i saia.

"Dammit. Dennis." said Aunt nob She seemed a polite, friendly, agreeable little girl, with a ready laugh, not quite grown-up neither bewildered nor bothered by the fuss and adulation, She seemed as natural as a 17-year- old girl can be when she's allegedly rich and certainly famous. She may have been a bit irked by a brief, kidding inter view by Woody Allen, but she got the better of him. When he asked the name of her favorite philosopher, she quickly retorted: "I don't have one. Who is yours?" The comedian couldn't think of any.

When he asked if she would say that hers is "the shape of the future," she laughed and replied: "I don't think I have any shape, Its just up and; down. Her face is expressive, win Rosalie, "Stop stepping on my lines!" nl HOP 6 Women's News Bervirei 1 rntMrniTitfl" Trnn" tnrr'int iy DENNIS JENNY'S Aunt Rosalie drop- tn.i (nM Clio 1a thf jjcu in taa, television expert of the family. "My TV set isn't working," she announced. "I cuess the Gciger counter has blown a shutter again," she said. "I thought you'd let me watch yours." "And sure it is," I said, push-inz our easiest chair in front the screen and outfitting Rosalie with an Irish toddy.

It seems Rosalie wanted to watch a new comic. Blowing an imaginary fly off the back of her wrist, she settled down with the toddy while I tuned in the station. The comic was an overweight young fellow with sideburns and a full set of teeth. He was eith er Irish workins a nhonv Yid dish accent, or Yiddish with an imitation Gaelic accent. I never could decide because I never did catch a single punchline.

"Mv friend. Officer Malone, found the bodv of a man on his beat on Schenectady street," he began. "And he couldn't spell Schenectady, so he drug him around the corner to UaK avenue." Rosalie out in. I guess it was something like that be cause the television audience laughed. The comic began telling about one Patrick who read so much about the evils of drinking.

"So he gave up reading," put in Rosalie. "And," said the comic, there was the Irishman who had great respect for old age" "Provided it was bottled!" chimed in Rosalie. "And there was this girl at the awkward age," the man oh the tube said. "She was too old to count on her fingers" "And too young to count on her legs!" roared Rosalie. And so it went, all through the routine.

z-zmvi Frenzied! Spectacular! Afternoon jf LATH Wfm follies and feels about it. Zero Mostel will appear in his first starring special on televi sion tonight en ABC at 10 o'clock. Mr. Mostel seldom has been seen on the medium, not because he has anything against it, but because he's been too busy acting in long -running stage shows and making mo vies. He is perhaps the most multi-talented performer in show business, lie can handle a se rious role, But emphasis in 'Zero Hour" will be on comedy and dancing.

While doing the show he worked with seven writers, all comedians in their own right. The production and direction is by Gary Smith and Dwight Hemion. They were responsible for. last week's resounding hit, the show with the Tijuana Brass. Carson's Challenge Johnny Carson's domination of the late night hours will be challenged by a more formida ble contender than Joey Bishop, beginning tonight The Las Vegas Show, presented by the 125 stations of the United Network.

On about 50 stations, it will be telecast opposite the NBC pro gram and on most of them there will be a partial overlap. Times vary a good deal around the country; on one station will carry it at 2 P.M.; on another it will begin at 1 A.M. Special Roster In this area The Las Vegas Show will begin at midnight on UHF Channel 24 in Baltimore and Channel 5 in Washington. The most powerful attraction will be the guest stars, drawn form the large number who are always available in the gambling palaces. The premiere has a special roster: Milton Bene, Don Adams, Allen and Rossi, Abbe Lane, Billy Daniels, Sarah Vaughan, Chad and Jeremy, Dave Astor, Jackie Gayle, Davis and Reese, Big Tiny Little, Rich Little and Unlimit ed.

Guests Named Tomorrow through Friday the guests include Julius La Rosa, Sheila MacRae, The Brothers Castro, Delia Reese, Don Cornell, Craig Stevens, Helen O'Connell, Colvin and Wilder, Pat Henry, Dave Madden, Con nie Francis, Fran Jeffries, Al Hibbler, Pat Morita, Mollie Bee, Maureen 0 Hara, Robert Clary, Jaye P. Morgan, Page Cavan- agh Seven, Frankie Lane Roberta Sherwood, Barbara Mc- Nair, Jerry Lester, Frank Gor-shin, Gale Garnett, Kallill and Taylor, Mel Carter, Sammy Shore, Sammey Cohn, Rusty Draper, Hank Henry and Tommy Leonetti. Bill Dana Bill Dana will be host for the series. He is more versatile than Mr. Carson, Mr.

Bishop and Jack Paar combined, with credits which encompass writ ing, producing, acting and composing. There is a novel feature, in that the program will have a "repertory company" consisting of Jack Sheldon, Pete Barbutti, Danney Meehan, Ann Elder and Cully Richards. The show is staged in a built- to-order amphitheater in the Hacienda Hotel. A former ball room was cleared out to make way for an amphitheater seating 240. Some segments will be taped there; others will be taped on outside locations in nine Las Vegas hotels by two mobile units.

Look and Lilw that "Bogart" special, 'Twiggy in New York" de-ncribed a craze without trying explain the cause. In so doing, ABC-TV provided an off beat, lively, sometimes amusing half-hour which will soon be followed by "Twiggy in Hollywood," then by a third special. Polite, Friendly We saw a lot of Leslie Hornby, as the world's most publi cized model is sometimes known if you can see a lot of somebody who weighs 90 pounds and could hide behind a rain spout but never got to know nuch about her. Most of the time she was surrounded by crowds, of Fifth avenue, or was in a hotel suite crammed with partygocrs, newspapermen, pho- tographers, people from Madis- on avenue. 6.10 Sermonette.

Club Wins, Award Woman's Club of Perry Hall has earned a third-place State award for Its efforts in encouraging girls to undertake nursing careers. The award was presented by the Shell Oil Company at the recent convention of the Maryland State Federation of Women's Clubs in Baltimore.

First-place and second-place winners were the Silver Spring Woman's Club and the Belair Woman's Club, of Bowie, respectively. The Perry Hall club won its award for providing educational opportunities for young people and promoting a common interest in the civic, social and educational life of the community. 'Project Book' Through the club's efforts, a library was started at the House of the Good Shepherd, a reha bilitative school for troubled girls. The library grew from three small bookcases to a col lection housed in a special room with a number of the books properly catalogued. The club donated funds and books and submitted recommendations to the State federation with the re sult that "Project Books" was adopted as a State-wide project.

A scholarship was awarded to a girl who is now studying at Towson State College. Members also donated funds, equipment and services to the local library and conducted a survey there for a State-wide evaluation of library services. The club cosponsored a sum mer concert series which in eluded four musicals and a play by the Children's Theater Association. The club also sponsored a chamber arts program at the senior high school. It aided local schools and sup ported various educational and civic activities.

Mrs. Fred L. Borleis. of Pine- dale drive, was chairman of the club project. Judges Listed Now in its fifth year, the Gen eral Federation of Women's Clubs and Shell Education Program aims to encourage clubs to conduct programs which aid young people in their communities to further their education.

All awards are used to further the aid-to-education programs of winning clubs. Judges for the competition were Dr. Clara P. McMahon. of the Johns Hopkins University; Dr.

Frederick Brown, assistant State superintendent of schools, and Miss Margaret Munn, of Hood College. Tips To Help You Go Far Some time-saving and money- saving advice is offered by a leading household goods mover, to the thousands of people who will be making long-distance moves this spring. While waiting for the moving van and the movers to arrive, you can make your move quick er and easier if you will do these things: Remove all carpet tacks, but leave the carpets flat and unrolled. Take down all blinds, draper ies, cornices and traverse rods. Disconnect television antenna and ground.

Have your appliances serviced and disconnected. Disconnect and collect togeth er all fixtures, shelves and brackets to be moved to the new; residence. Make sure no cash, jewelry or other valuables are left on the premises. Check to see that all bank accounts, charge accounts and home delivery service have been closed out or transferred to your new location. All salvageable foods, 1 liquids and open cans, bottles or boxes, should be transferred to plastic, snap-top canisters, or equally efficient containers, and tightly sealed with clear tape.

r-SV Hurt usd te wear, to make her loon HKe a vampire. The cinema verity technique employed by Bert Stern, producer-director, has good points and some limitations. Carrying a hand camera in such bustling places doesn make for sharp pictures. On the other hand, it caught some charming candid pictures of Twiggy and her associates. Doesn't Matter How candid the show was on the whole doesn't matter much, but there was reason to suspect, now and then, that something or other might have been stage-managed.
