There were the outward signs associated for centuries with the attainment of special spiritual powers which Catholics believe were conferred upon the original Apostles by Christ and then be queathed to their successors, Appointments Of Office The consecrators and other bishops placed their palms upon the head of the new prelate. He was anointed with oil. And he received the apparel and ap pointments of his new office the staff (crozier); tall hat (miter); ring, and gloves. Bishop Mardaga, who is 52, will serve as an auxiliary to Cardinal Shehan.

When all Is in order, then and only then-do you begin the slow process at rekindling new life into old wood. There are many ways to take easy short cuts. It's worth doing properly." We suppose it's because we've done It this sv for four genera, tions and frankly, Its still the best way. Heches FEraitare Service Since 1872 526 E. And the Weather Bureau pre dicted that the heat wave was about to recede, with cooler tem peratures and possibly rain ex pected during the next few days.

In the city, a high tempera ture of 74 was reached at 3.20 P.M. It broke the old record for January 25, 70 degrees, which had stood for 33 years. Taken together, the three davs marked only the third time since 1873 when the Weather Bureau began keeping such statistics that there have been three straight davs when the tempera ture in Baltimore has reached 70 degrees or higher during Jan uary.

The other years were 1932 and 1944, according to W. Moyer, State climatologist.
