A12 THE SUN, Saturday, April 28, 1984 New station, schedule for rail users MEET AN EVENING SUN AWARD WINNER "safer and more attractive" than the old ones, with increased lighting, a parking lot for 100 cars and shelters on the southbound side where commuters board trains. She said railroad officials, who built the station with a combination of state and federal money, decided to close the Frederick avenue station because "only a handful of people were using it." Feminist to give talk Barbara Ehrenreich, a feminist author, will deliver an address at 7:30 p.rp. April 30 at the Progressive Action Center, 1443 Gorsuch avenue. 4 -ByJoelMcCord Commuters on one of the Maryland Rail Commuter Service lines to Washington will wake up to a new train station and a revised schedule Monday morning, rail officials said yesterday. The state Railroad Administration is closing the Edmondson avenue and Frederick avenue stations on the Amdot line, which runs between Penn Station in Baltimore and Union Station in Washington, and replacing them with a single West Baltimore station on Small-wood street.

The new $253,000 station is "only a stone's throw away" from the Edmondson avenue station, said Kathleen Kujawa, railroad ad muters who work near Union Station and leave their jobs at 4:30 p.m. Neither the schedule nor the route for the Baltimore and Ohio railroad line, which runs between Camden Station in Baltimore and Union Station in Washington, will change. The opening of the West Baltimore station will allow highway crews to rebuild the Edmondson avenue bridge over the Amtrak line without having to keep a lane open for the 60 commuters that use the station each day. Ms. Kujawa said that not all the features of the new station would be ready; Monday but that work would go on until the end of June.

The new station, she added, will be ministration spokeswoman. It is located on Smallwood street between Franklin and Mulberry streets just west of Martin Luther King boulevard. Additionally, Amdot line commuters who usually catch Train 405, which leaves Penn Station at 7:25 a.m., will have to get up a little earlier because that train will leave at 7:15 a.m. starting Monday. Those who usually ride Train 402 out of Washington at 4:35 p.m.

will have another five minutes to catch the train under the schedule 'changes. Railroad officials said they made the change in the morning schedule to even out the time between trains. The evening schedule was changed to accomodate com wmw: mm QUALITY BUILT STORAGE SHEDS iistea to Tim.
