THORN SAYS 1 -1 ranrr? llARRYV CARVER TOPS OWLS, 85-76 Towson Catholic Virtually Out Of Division I Race (Confinued from 1st Sports Page) ris, who paced the final period spurt by the Cubs, was the sec ond leading scorer for the win ners with 15 points. Dick Miasek, the do-everything performer for the Owls, led his team in scoring with 26 points. He canned 7 of 14 field goal at tempts and 12 of 12 foul shots and also was the rebounding leader in the game with 20.

Tim Ritmiller chipped in with 20 points and Dan Duvall added 15 in a losing cause. Carver, which made only 17 of 64 shots from the floor against City on Tuesday, had a hot day in the shooting department against the Towson Catholic fan-shaped backboards. Owls Get More Rebounds The Cubs canned 29 of 68 shots from the floor and 27 of 40 char ity shots. Towson Catholic made 26 of 57 field goal attempts and 24 of 34 foul shots. The Owls out-rebounded the Cubs, 36 to 24.

Carver opened the scoring with Anthony Harris hitting a jumper from the foul line for a 2-0 Car ver lead and Duvall countering immediately with a similar shot on the other end of the court for 2 2 tie. The game see-sawed back and forth for most of the initial period with the Owls leaving the floor with a 25-to-23 advantage at the quarter's end, thanks to 2 foul shots by Miasek. The score was tied twelve times during the first period and the lead changed hands four times. Ramseur Taken Out -Carver's" big man, Ron Ram seur got in foul trouble with about three minutes to go in the second Deriod and coach White took him out of the game. With the big man missing from the under the boards.

Towson Catholic took command and moved into a point lead, 45 to 40, at the half. The Cubs put on a spurt as the second half opened, erasing the 5 point deficit and taking a 48 to 45 lead before the Owls could manage a bucket. But, with Ritmiller and Duvall snowing the way, Towson Catho lic rallied and regained the lead at 49 to 48. The contest again became nip-and-tuck affair with the lead changing hands six times before the third quarter ended with Tow son Catholic on top, 56 to 55. The Cubs, with William Harris hitting two jumpers in a row, and Epps hitting on a long one- hander raced to a 61 to 56 lead as the final period began.

Two Owls Foul Out The Owls rallied to cut the lead to 76 to 66 with 4.46 to go, but this was Towson Catholic's dying effort, as Duvall fouled out and little Bobby Loewe fol lowed him to the bench via 'the same route seconds later. The Cubs run-gun offense, led by Anthony Harris and Epps, quickly built up a 78 to 68 lead in the next two minutes and then coasted to victory. CARVER TOWSON CATH. O. F.
